I still have my land phone simply because Comcast comes through the phone, so the phones still work. But since I'm an
older lady and always drive alone, I have a Trac phone for security. It and my AAA card I think of as added insurance.

We don't have a landline. We haven't had one for about 2-3 years now. My neigbor allows me to connect into her wifi so that is cool so I have no internet costs.
My cell phone company, told me to set my 911 on LOCATION ON. The reason for this is because so many people no longer have landlines that if you have an emergency and you only have it set for 911 only, they will go to where ever it is that your address is on your account. With LOCATION ON....they will find you where ever you are at. :)
But I hope to never have to use that feature. :)

I would use cell only but we can't get cell reception where we live.:(

I've been on only cell phone for over 8 years, no land line!
I notice only a few easily adjusted to problems:
1. Putting the cell down somewhere and "loosing" it.
2. Forgetting to charge it on a timely schedule.
3. Forgetting to pick it up and put in my purse when I leave the house.
4. Not easy to "look up" someone's cell number.
5. And the occasionally irritating 2-year-contract issue.

My pros are:
1. MY choice for which server I want to use, which style of phone. (Many areas have only one landline server, such as Verizon or AT&T.)
2. Always available for calls if I want to be.
3. Some cell phones, plans allow internet searches, email checks, etc., anywhere/anytime with your cell.
4. Not easy for people I don't care about to find my number or call me.
5. I can use my cell as an alarm, calculator, calendar, text messager, and other things. And I have only a basic cell style!
6. As mentioned above, I can use my cell for 911 anywhere and the call is directed to the local 911 service of the area I'm in.

I love having only a cell!

We gave up our land line a few years ago for the savings and convenience. Found that we just aren't home enough to justify having a home phone! Too many activities at church, school and scouts leads to too many calls to return, so cell only for this family.

We did this about 2 years ago. And it has worked out great for us. Especially when we are out & about.
I know ALOT of people that are doing this. No need in paying for 2 different sets of phone bills.

We only have a cell. I use Walmarts Straight Talk, is only $45 a month unlimited everything.
When my budget is really tight, I buy their $30 a month plan for 1,000 minutes and texts, then use Skype for the long calls to family. Everyone I know is long distance.

This is a bone of contention between hubby and I. He thinks cell only, for $$ reasons, but I refuse to give up my landline for safety reasons. We do have cell service here (tower is in the neighbor's pasture), but when we loose power (happens not infrequently year round) we also loose cell service. Being without a phone out in the sticks is NOT for me!

I guess I should add, we have both-one for home safety (and chatting), one for travel safety :thumbup:

Both my sons have cell phones only and one is a doctor and the other travels all over the state. They are now telling me that I need to disconnect my home line. Not sure about it because I may not save that much money if everyone starts calling my cell phone. I need a cell because I live alone and travel at times and I'm disabled so never know when I might need it.

Just too many decisions...LOL
