I'm just curious about something. Alot of you post pictures on here of beautiful quilts that took you hours and hours to make and alot of the time there is a cat on it in the picture. I've always been more of a dog person but I have seen alot of furniture, curtains, etc. thats been torn up by cat claws. Aren't you worried they might tear up your quilts?

We have two cats.....we trained them from 'babyhood' to NOT scratch furniture. I also started clipping their nails every Sunday morning since they were 8 weeks old. They lay in my lap and purr during the process!!!! We have 3 scratching posts at home and one in the RV (where we are right now). I've NEVER had a problem with them tearing up the furniture nor my quilts. BUT, I DO have a problem with them attacking my yarn when I crochet!!! LOL

Merry Christmas!

Ours have a house full of furniture to destroy. Quilts seem to be left alone. Both Bean and Monty love to lay on the quilts, so the quilts need to be washed often.

I have a small kitty rescue with on average 140 kittens per year coming through my home, plus three cats of my own. They have NEVER attacked a blanket or curtain. Toys? they love the toys, sometimes they will run like bats out of hell over the top of the couch to chase a toy/air/another kitty but even my couches are not scratched up. Cat climber, they climb and scratch that. I also trim their nails. Like the little doggies that get to jump up on the couch.. they rarely destroy it either. Exceptions to all rules. Cats can destroy things if left alone and ignored and a dog can eat your couch if its in a "mood" frustrated or lonely. I know, one of my goldens ATE my couch (like Turner and hootch) and I came home to a sea of fluff. So.. cats are not going to eat your quilts or couch. I say.. your safe. So are the quilts. those fringes on your lamp? fair game, fringes on the afghan? gotta get them...

They are way more interested in being pains in the you-know-where while the quilt is under construction. When it's done, it's just a cozy cat-station.

I have had pets in the past, as well as family and friends with cats and dogs... Most of them are very well behaved and do not tear up anything other than their toys.. Some who have been "untrainable" do not get left alone in the house...they have their own room/space to be in while the owner's are away...

Of my two new kitties, the little girl is declawed but the male isn't. So far, he hasn't done anything nasty with them. But hubby is adamant that we get him declawed. As long as he doesn't hurt either one of us, I'll put it off as long as I can...... :D

no, they'd much rather swing from the drapes.

Our cat has never destroyed anything. Give him a lady bug up in the air and he will hunt it down until he swats it and wonders why it isn't flying anymore. My cat still has his claws.

Years ago we lived in a very small furnished apartment. The drapes had seen much better days. A friend (?) gave a siamese kitten to my daughter for her birthday -- she was 4 or 5 at the time. The apartment rules were "no pets". Well, I was hoping to keep the little thing hidden until we could move. This stupid kitten would jump to the top of the curtains and with his claws out, slide down the entire length!! Those poor drapes were in ribbons when we moved out....needless to say, I didn't even ask for my deposit back
