I am actually located in Far North Queensland, Australia, and it is the middle of winter. The nights here in the hills are cold, but the days are warm. I too am surprised, and happy, the sunflowers are blooming.

aww like my youngest granddaughter says: mm Gma stop and smell the pretty perfume from the flowers .. especially my roses gma. So pretty and perfumey!

My husband and I was driving down a residential road one morning and saw this huge sunflower in the front yard of this little house. We stopped and I was taking a picture when the owner of the house came out. She was very proud of her sunflower and said it was ok to come in to the yard to take pictures. My husband is standing beside the bloom, so you can see how big it was. I have never seen anything like it before.
