Sorry, you pulled the trigger on the negative feedback way too soon. Also, you should have contacted the seller before you bid if you wanted to make payment arrangements.

I have sold literally thousands of items on ebay and I know that sometimes things come up that are beyond our control. Bidders need to realize that many of the sellers on eBay are just ordinary folks working from home and trying to make a little extra money. You could have just gone ahead and paid on Friday if you didn't hear back.

This is one of the reasons I know longer sell on eBay. The sellers are at the complete mercy of the winning bidder and have no recourse when negative feedback is received.

I agree with everyone else and with you being a seller before, wouldn't you be ticked if someone turned around and did the same thing to you?! You shouldn't have bid if you couldn't pay within the time frame the seller requested.

Sorry, but I agree with all. You dropped the ball. You can't bid, win, and then ask if you can pay later. It does not work that way. I buy all the time on e-bay and have only had one problem in 5 years and that was taken care of promptly.

What were their terms? There are certain procedures that protect the seller and the buyer.

When I buy on ebay, I first look at their terms. I also look at their feedback....not just the percentage of positive feedbacks but at the actual comments and what they usually sell and ship. If someone has a high volume of business (say 1000 auctions in one month) but just 8-15 of those auctions have negative feedback each month, then I usually don't bid on their auction unless I think the negative feedbacks are frivolous.

When I bid on an item, if it requires immediate payment, I make sure that I have the immediate payment to give to them. I also don't leave a negative comment until I have checked out all other options.
For many of the sellers, this is their business. Also, life happens...someone could end up in the hospital and not be able to handle their items that they are selling. Some could have just lost a loved one. I try to give them the benefit of the doubt. I would probably leave them a negative comment if they hadn't responded in 3 Weeks, but I would never leave a comment for them not responding in 3 days.

I don't understand why you wanted to wait to pay for something you bid on. That was so lame of you to think that.

I wanted the item, and I was going to get it that friday, but mom came home and said to help with groceries, pay the gas bill, get a bus pass for work. I explained all this to the person in the original message I sent asking for the two week thing. I've never had a problem with that before... plus the buyer promises to send the item or respond to messages within 24 hours (send item after payment of course)I should not have had to wait a week for a response to the question. But I'm over it now. Theres nothing I can do about it... plus I was not the only one to leave negative feedback about the same problem...

You didn't wait a week for a response. You left negative after only 3 days. You may be over it but the black mark stays on the seller's record for a year! Again, this is why I no longer sell on eBay.

I remember when the "Black Mark" would never leave you. I had 2 eBay id's and I only kept one of them when I closed everything down. It was the one with the least feedback (over 600) the other was just over 10,000 and until they did the feedback change it was at 98.9% and it had one negative feedback in the 8 years or so I sold on there.

And it was something stupid like this that got me out of the 100% rating. It got to the point that I would not leave feedback for anyone until after they left it for me.

I miss the early years of eBay when it was fun to be on there.

I agree Billy. I loved eBay. It was like a big yard sale. Now it's like a big K-Mart. eBay totally screwed the very sellers that made them - the little guys.

It is none of my business but, there could have been any number of things that happened to keep the Seller from being able to respond to your message until they finally did. A family illness, accident, them being ill, computer crash, any number of things. I think it is unfair to be so judgemental of the Seller without knowing the circumstances.
