I remember my mom (born in 1912) telling me she was not given a middle name and took her confirmation name as her middle name.

Back in Dallas, I go by my first name. My husband calls me by my middle name which is what I go by in the Austin area.

The only one to call me by my full name was my aunt, it didn't matter if I was in trouble or not, she called me by my full name!

I guess mine would be a combo - I have always been Maribeth, but my given name is Mary Elizabeth and I will never answer to that because I assume I am in trouble if you are calling me that.:-D

My mother spelled my name with an 'i' so I wouldn't be mistaken for a southerner, kind of silly for a gal known around Boston, Mass. as Dixie :-) and I told her a long time ago, that if she didn't want me to be southern she shouldn't have moved to the south.
