I sent out a package to son in Las Vegas with a zip code from daughter in Texas (my mistake). Took me 3 weeks of phone calls to 5 post offices to find a nice man in Texas who showed some interest. He finally found it (said that it was sitting on the postmaster's desk in Texas)...wonder how long it had been sitting there. It did get shipped to Las Vegas....and the candles weren't even melted. I was lucky on that one..

I live in VT - many years ago my MIL sent a card that arrived very late. She had the correct zip code, but writing in cursive handwriting (anyone remember that?) her VT looked like UT. So it went to Utah, even though the zip was right. Don't tell me they always go by zip code...
Soory but UPS has messed up for me also. They once put my son's condo's unit address as the street address and vice versa. A box of oranges sat in the Las Vegas post office for 3 weeks. Took several phone calls and lots of anger to find them. Again I was lucky...they were all o.k.

That is why I never ship anything of value by the USPS. I always use FedEx or UPS. At least I can track it every step of the way.

Thankfully yours were found.

I hate to bust yall's bubble but unless you have a store reciept , they won't pay off on an insurance claim. Our postmaster told me that. She said you can have all the documantation you want but with not proof of purchase , it won't do any good. I've added some pictures of my husbands round top boxes that I was insuring for $375.00 . It didn't make any difference. Hugs, Noiseynana

he should have written a receipt for sale of the items and kept a copy. It does NOT have to be a store receipt. Just a receipt that shows what the person paid-or the value of the item. That is what my Postmaster told me when I had to send a handmade item of value and needed to insure it!

My daughter in Montreal, Quebec Canada ordered a bed a few yrs ago.
Guess what- it got sent to somewhere in Ontario, California.
For clarification- Ontario is the province (like a state) that is west of the province of Quebec. Ontario, Ca is a city in California USA --someone was very DUMB !!!! but that caused a lot of heartache, time and money

The quilter called to say it hadn't arrived...GULP....so that was Friday. No body knew anything till a man in a PO said it had the wrong Zip code on it.I knew better cause the PO clerk near us is a good friend & we always make sure the box is add right, postage paid etc. Then it's all typed by computer, checked again & sent.
I tried for a wk on the USPS "track & confirm" & got the same message every time...."no info available" .
Of course I was sick about it, so much work & a lot of $$$.

This morn, we went to local PO again & she got on ph,trying her best to track it down. They finally found it had arrived in wrong state......was then shipped to right state. At 3pm, the LA quilter called to say it had just got there.Big sigh of relief!!!!!

Even the PO couldn't say why it had arrived 3 states away from intended location.....nor could they say how they changed the Zip code to right one? The'd said it had wrong ZC....& they hadn't contacted us or local PO to get right one? Sounds ditzy to me, but thank heaven my quilts are ok.No more USPS for my quilts! BTW....even after delivery, their track/confirm site said no info available.
they must have realized it was the PO mix up, because if they had thought it was YOUR fault, it would have been sent back to you with postage DUE....they have sent back 3 boxes to me recently telling me I owe the postage because the boxes went to the wrong address....yet each one had the correct address I was given and confirmed with the person who the address belonged too....
I now have a legal action against the USPS for the monies paid and then some....
