About 18 years ago we moved from upstate NY, between Rochester and Syracuse to central Ohio, just east of Columbus.

One of the first things you will notice is that the taxes are considerably lower in Ohio than they are in NY!!

14 years ago we moved from Syracuse to Columbus. I never thought of Ohio as home, until we moved to NC. Now when we say home we realize we had grown to enjoy it. Not as much snow and that was a plus, but NE might get more than Columbus. Finding new friends was a little tough, but we did it. Find a quilt guild, take your neighbors Christmas cookies, join a church anything to get to know new people. Enjoy your new home.

A word from the wise, If you don`t use it don`t keep it. Any way anything sewing went first. Wish us luck.

We will be doing this very same thing as soon as we sell our place here & hubby retires early next year.
We've already gotten rid of a lot of things but I just can't believe how much "stuff" we've got!
Let us know when you get settled in.

Good luck to you and downsizing is very freeing once you do it! I had to 3 years ago and don't miss "the stuff" although I haven't been quite able to "downsize my sewing and quilting stuff", yet!

Welcome to Ohio. What part of NE Ohio are you moving to?
As ncsewer suggested get involved with some groups, and it will make the transition a lot easier.

Good luck :-) Just this past week, I helped a friend move from the Sacramento area to Valley City. I was amazed at how much cheaper, and nicer, the houses are out there compared to Phoenix. The countryside is also beautiful around there. As a bonus, I found a great little quilt shop in Olmsted Falls ;-)
