My 2nd fabric basket with tons of "bling"...please help me decide...would this work as a raffle item or gift it as originally intended

I think you could raise quite a bit of money with an auction. Just make sure that the auction runs for a period of time to allow it to be marketed. If you are going through a charitable group, have pictures of the basket distributed to all members so that they can show the pictures and sell tickets to a wider audience.
Can't believe that this is only your second basket. Fabulous.
P.S. I would love to purchase tickets for an auction for this item. Please PM me if you do plan to auction it.

wow..that is stunning...good job.
As for the raffle, I don't want to be Debbie Downer, but there are laws in each state/city governing raffles. You need to contact your state officials and find out what they are. Especially since you are a private citizen and not a chartered 501 charity!

Went to Church yesterday and we found out we could sponsor the raffle through them in the same manner that we do other outreach events to raise money for other charitable causes that we have done in the past. Looking forward to making this happen![/quote]
I believe money given for a "raffle" is tax deductible, with ticket stub receipts, hence needing a special license. But if you state or put up a sign for a "donation giveaway" no receipts for deductions, would you be able to put this at the quilt shop too, in addition to your church?
