Oh, how sad :( I have never had anything stolen from my car but I know I would be devasted as you must be. I think I will learn to keep all my supplies in my trunk where they won't be seen by those nasty types of people. Seems like thieves are stealing whatever they can get their hands on to make money. It's sad that some are so desperate that they lose all respect for others' property.
As for a machine -- I have an old Elna Quilter's Dream and although it doesn't have as many bells and whistles as my little Janome Gem I still love it. It's my old reliable and it never lets me down.

Dang! I'm so sorry you had this happen to you! The suggestion to check all the pawn shops is probably a good one. Also to report it to the police - you probably need to do that to report it to your insurance carrier, too.

When we travel by car, I insist on taking everything into the motel every night. DH gets annoyed with me, but he knows better than to argue! Years ago, friends CAUGHT someone breaking into their car at a motel in the middle of thenight - he had gone out to get something out of the trunk!

Oh, my heck! What a terrible thing to have happen. Makes me glad I live where I do. I left my car open with my purse in it while I went and ate at a restaurant and it was just fine. My Brother lost his wallet at the gas station and 1 hour later we went back and it was right there on the ground with everything still in it, $200 in cash and credit cards ect.

So sorry to hear that your trip went great, except for the loss of your Elna and other items out of your car.
