I've also found that using various size ziplock bags works great for keeping the small pieces together, whether it is for pieces of a project or for left over scraps. They can then be put in an appropriate size box so they don't slip and slide all over the place.

Good Idea but I would have to take everything else that I store in the luggage out to put the fabric in and then I would have to find a place to store what I took out!!!

I store out of season clothing in my mom's old 1950's luggage set (2 huge hardside suitcases). Hard to believe people travelled with that much luggage!!

They are just a thick piece of acid free paper/board. They come in various sizes. If you get close to 9", you can count the folds to guestimate 1/4 yards.
