Where do you find it? I could not find ANY "all-fabric bleach" (sodium perborate) in normal stores anymore.

Thank you, everyone, for the information.

Prism, I did order a one-pound bag, which will arrive on November 14th. I'll have to let everyone know later how well this worked, as I am having a complete knee replacement on the 7th. I don't suppose I will be up to washing pillowcases for a while. LOL

It will be nice to know that all those fine pillowcases that my mom never used and was saving for a special occasion will finally be used. Which begs the question, "why do we save things for a special occasion?" It is kind of sad actually.

I just read your last statement and you're so right. We need to enjoy these things. I'm the same way about my Gram's diamonds. I wear them daily and enjoy them and have Gram close to me.

If, for some reason, the yellow doesn't come out with the treatment suggested maybe you could cut out the embroidery part (is it on the hemmed part of the case?) and applique it to a new pillow case either by hand or machine. That way you could still enjoy the beauty of the hand work.

Years ago the person that restored old dolls and dresses told me to use foaming denture leaner.
Dip the dresses while it is foaming.

Me, too. I use it on old things and it really brightens them up.

Restoration--works well in the wash tub or the washing machine--but I always opt for wash tub with vintage fabrics.

And it doesn't harm fabric. I've used a ton of the stuff.
I, too, have used this product (Retro-Clean). Works very well, on antique quilts and even on coffee and teas stains that had been washed and dried in linen for over 30 years! I reused the water with the product for several items before discarding it. This is my go-to for stains.

Great idea, Sally. Of course this will be my last resort.

My grandmother was the same. My father brought sheets and pillowcases that were hand appliqued and embroidered back after his mother died. He said the sheets on the bed were rags. I can still remember him handing my mother a stack of pillowcases and sheets and telling her to put them on the beds and use them and not save them for some day like his mother had done.
