Default Need ideas for 2014 vacation.

I live in Florida, and I have lived in Las Vegas, NJ, and Wyoming. Love all those places. I've been to Hawaii, Washington, DC, Chicago, San Antonio, Asheville, Atlanta, Calloway Gardens in GA, Norfolk, VA, and Biloxi, MS. Don't want to do a cruise, took one and didn't really enjoy it. Going to NYC/Long Island this year for family wedding and I'm going to Paducah in 2015. I'm stumped for a good idea for a new place to go. I want to stay in the USA. I'm thinking about river rafting on Colorado River or going to someplace in California.

I love the state of Montana. I have only been there once and only for a few days but am wanting to go back and spend more time in the foothills, it is such beautiful country.

I was going to suggest going to see Niagara Falls but not sure you would do that since going to NYC already. I love Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire and Cape Cod. Alaska is wonderful too!! That's the "USA". I lived there for 14 yrs. and it has a LOT to offer.

Must admit I am rather partial to California. Depending on how much time you have but Southern California - we have the "World Famous" San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park - they are 30 miles apart. If you have small children with you Legoland is fun. (Not so much if you do not, unless you are a nut for Legos.) In San Diego we have a lot to see, the Hotel Coronado, Balboa Park (which is next to the San Diego Zoo), if you like baseball Petco Park is great - the Padres are not doing so well. There are lots of beaches - and I could go on. We are 100 miles south of Los Angeles and so much to do there.

If you are looking for a quilting/fabric vacation we have that too. Just request the map for the Shop Hop and you will be busy for days. I won't got into all the details - but there are a lot.

And did I mention Yosemite? Sequoia National Park & King's Canyon, then in Northern California there are the Redwoods and Mount Shasta, Lake Shasta. I could go on for hours. And I love San Francisco - it is a very romantic city and you can walk and walk.... I spent several hours walking around China Town and Old St. Mary's Cathedral.

Okay, I will stop now - if you want more information, please do not hesitate to ask.

If you want to do a driving vacation, I suggest flying to San Francisco and driving north on highway 101 to Canada. In the California secion, you can see the redwoods (which are breath taking), Oregon has all publically owned beaches and some of the prettiest coast I've ever seen complete with breath taking views, accessable light houses, old water front towns, and so on. Washington has a very rugged coast line. There is so much to see and do on the Pacific coast from San Francisco north. The whole area is scarcely populated with most towns having between 200-30,000 people. The largest city you will encounter is San Francisco and Seattle. The rest are small. If you make it clear to Seattle, there is A LOT to see and do there.

If you like history, Shelburne Museum in Shelburne, Vermont, or Sturbridge Village in Sturbridge, Massachusetts.
