Zennia, I've tried it, too. I'm right handed and had no better luck. When I was a kid my Great Aunt Bertha used to tat so fast you couldn't see her hand. She made hankies and sold them for $1 each all proceeds went to missions. She tried to teach me once but her hand kept moving... I never did learn a thing from her. My mom said she had no better luck. A friend sort of showed me how to needle tat. I think I kind of get it now but I needed more time sitting next to my friend. It really helped to use string so I could see it but it also needs to be somewhat smooth so it slides nice.

You make me think of getting out the doily I started needle tatting a few years ago! It's a large one and about 3/4 finished but my hand was hurting so badly that I had to put it away for a while (a long while?)

Love your work. I have shuttles and a needle. Haven't used since I was a little girl. belonged to my paternal grandmother. She did beautiful work. She would tat pulls at the bottom of her shades with weights. I always thought she bought them that way. then found out she also made her own window shades. grandpa would make the mechanism spring for them. She hand dressed every window in her home. Your work brings back good memories! Thank You for sharing!!
