Our 2 sons always got to open 1 present on Christmas Eve. They "knew" it would be pj's but the trick was finding the 2 boxes wrapped the same before they could open them. they weren't always under the tree

I love the Christmas PJ idea. I head of a tradition I would like to use. On Christmas Eve (or before Santa is to arrive) mix oatmeal and glitter and with the children, sprinkle in on the lawn for the raider to see and have something to eat while santa is inside. There is a poem that goes with it, but I do not know it. Do any of you know the poem?

We have always let our son open one gift on Christmas eve, and sometimes it is pjs although not homemade. Several Christmases (when we were all adults) my mom made flannel nightgowns for all the "girls" and robes for all the "boys". I was heartbroken went my last nightgown from my mom finally fell apart. I still have the pattern with all the notations she made for changing it up to fit each of us.

We did the oatmeal trick when DS was little, but I didn't know there was a poem. I googled it and found this one:

Sprinkle on the lawn at night
The moon will make it sparkle bright
Santa's reindeer fly and roam
This will guide them to your home

I love this idea. Growing up the first present I received on Christmas Eve was a new nightgown or pj set to wear. Funny thing is that I had continued to receive this present in my 50's from my mom. Since she's passed, I carry over the tradition by buying myself a bedtime outfit every year. I would love to receive one of those boxes! Lol

I love this idea. This xmas it will be just my husband and me. friends moved away, family members passed away.. and brother moving to Manila. Sigh ~ such is life.. I'll do a box for both of us, as I deserve one too!
