I like W10 I've had no more problems than I had with 8.1. I reloaded a few older Office programs , as I like the photo editing of Office 10. I do not use Edge much and for work I had to reload an earlier version of Internet Explorer but so far I like it.

I have 2 laptops and downloaded Windows 10 on one first to see if I still wanted it on the second one. I have had no problems with it except that it really lags and freezes when it is updating!. Other than that, it is better that 8, but I still like XP or 7 the most.

I just talked to a computer salesman yesterday, and he agreed completely with my grandson. He hates it on his machines. He also said the odd numbers worked better than the even numbers. He's waiting for the new one.

It isn't compliant with one of the systems in my work so I'm staying where I'm at. Like they say if it isn't broke don't fix it.

Sorry! This should have said it was the even numbers that don't work as well. Took me a long time to find that blunder.

Windows 11 is actually just a rumor.

During the May 2015 Microsoft Ignite conference, Jerry Nixon confirmed that Windows 10 will be the “last version” of the operating system that Microsoft releases. Microsoft clarified later by saying that “Windows will be delivered as a service bringing new innovations and updates in an ongoing manner.”

Regards,
Steve

I have reported this before, but it definitely bears repeating. A friend of mine is high up in a particular Computer company. He told everyone that if you purchase anew computer with Windows 10 preloaded, you should not have any problems. He actually likes it. But, NEVER, NEVER upload 10 into your current computer. Your current system will be supported for a long time and the upload will cause you difficulties - either right from the start or not too far down the road. But, I repeat, if you purchase a new computer with 10 preloaded, you should not have any problems.

My computer "go to guy" says "DO NOT INSTALL 10" So I am sticking with my 7......interesting to read about all the problems with the 10.

Yes, I've tried to download a number of times but it does not finish. Tells me there is an unknown error and that is it. Plenty of memory, so it puzzles me.

I will actually deviate from klswift's response here. There is no more risk with upgrading to Windows 10 on a current PC than downloading an update to your existing Operating System. I have done this upgrade on over 40 computers already and not a single one has issues after install (other than users getting used to the new layout or minor setbacks like jitkaau referenced).

In your case, it most likely driver issues. That would require unplugging everything except power cord, rebooting the machine and going straight into the Windows 10 install/download.
