I've never heard of intarsia. I'll have to ask him. He called them segmented turnings. They were made from some wood that he got from his father's "stash" when he passed away, some recycled furniture that our DD and SIL were getting rid of and some oak that he had. I know how many hours he spent on these and I will always treasure them.
Have you ever seen those wood pieces of art that depicts an image using different species of wood for the color variation? Well, that's really what intarsia is. I didn't know if there was some kind of division of that for turning bowls or what. I guess that's more my question, is this a form of intarsia?
My Dad is getting into the whole intarsia thing, so I was wondering how far it actually goes. :)
