When I first saw the tops of your DH work, my heart skipped a beat. This is quite outstanding work. Has your DH been doing this for a long time? Has his work even been sent out of state, perhaps to Colorado. I ask this because sitting in my LR is one like this. It does not have the inlaid patterns but is shaped and with different types of wood also. This is a very sentimental item in my home as it houses the memories of my beloved husband who passed in 2001. I am so glad to see these. Thanks so much for the beat of my heart in memories.

Lucky you. I have a friend whose hubby does this kind of work and she has beautiful pieces displayed in her home. Just love seeing her new pieces when I get to visit. She lives 6 hours away so it isn't often. After I see her quilts I then get to see whats new in his workshop.

While this is beautiful, it is turning with laminating wood together to make quilt like patterns. Intarsia is taking several different types of wood, cutting the shapes that you want so that you can make a certain "picture". I am making it sound easy, however it is quite difficult. Intarsia is something that I do, and love to do.
