That was Marabel Morgan (25 June 1937-) an American author of self-help books for married women, including The Total Woman (1973). I tried this technique and it actually worked, but I felt like such a fake!! "Ohhh, Honey, you have such big muscles." Finally found it easier just to divorce the guy, LOL!

I remember my mother and grandmother doing that and I was born in 1947. They always wore dresses, cooked three hot meals every day, washed clothes on a wringer washer, ironed, made their clothes and mine, all while keeping the house clean. I don't know how they did it. I'm willing to try a dress and a little makeup if it would improve my sewing. Lol.

So funny Jan. The title should have been The Book of the Total Care and Feeding of Husbands. Sometimes it is easier to replace the husband or forget about having one. So many men are completely ruined by our early desire to be the best wife ever. The husbands get totally spoiled. Big mistake on our part!

Example for today. It snowed six inches here last night. I had to shovel the snow off the deck so I could open the storm door. Slogged out to feed and water the chickens. Got the ladder out and raked the snow off the dog kennel so it would not collapse. Got my mother up, changed her and made her breakfast. Made my own at the same time. Then not so DH asked me where his breakfast was! Politely informed him that the least he could have done was to fix me breakfast while I was taking care of MY chores. Well, I don't think he liked my response because I am getting the "long long long silence". Too Bad, at least I will not be interrupted while I am sewing today.

I don't wear pajamas in bed, why would I wear them to sew?

ROLMAO!! Oh, yeah -- sure ----- I don't think I have a dress either -- and I don't have lipstick either!!!! So, guess I'd better sell my stuff, too!!! BTW - yesterday I went out to the shop....and as I looked at myself I started laughing. Red t-shirt covered by a flannel shirt, floppy/baggy sweat pants, boots (pants tucked into boots) and a red rain hat on my head......I think I did okay out there though!!!!

A friend of mine recently told me that her mother NEVER emerged from her room until she was completely dressed, hair all done up, and all her makeup on. My friend said she never saw her mother in any kind of "natural" look until the first time she saw her in a hospital, and that was when she was in her late teens. Weird!!
