The Office Professional is IMHO a much more usable program than the Home edition. If you can get it at a good price I would definitely recommend that you do so. I'm not familiar with the School edition, so can't comment on it. Does it have features that are specifically geared to students?

we have used chegg.com to rent - great experience

addall.com allows you to compare prices for a book on 30 different sites. I always use it for books we want to buy.

Yes, new books at the school book store are much more expensive. The one I go to here also offers used books, but I found my text & workbook for microbiology on Craigslist from a classmate. Then sold them there again after the semester! Of course ... remember the usual warnings about buying on Craigslist. Meet in a public place, take someone with you ... Good luck with your education!

I'm not entirely sure... but I know that it has the same things as the Home and student edition, and then much much more... but it's the only one available for under 100 bucks, so I'm thinking I might get it!

It looks like the only thng Microsoft Home & Student has that Office Pro doesn't is One Note. HELLO-O! You can take notes in Word.

Or, you can download a free trial version right from the Microsoft website and see if you think you'd benefit from having One Note.

One thing you could get used is the fridge. Every year, thousands of students buy a fridge for the dorm and then want to sell it the next year, when they have an apartment. You might also want to see if your roommate will have one or will want to share one and pay for half of it.

Also for the fridge, when my son went to college , the school had them for rent . that way you don't have to worry about moving it and storing it, or if it breaks

I use half.com for my textbooks and buy 'em used. Yeah, they sure are expensive though! Luckily, at a lot of schools you can sell 'em back at the end of the term. If not, you can just post 'em on half.com as a seller. You won't get the full price back, but something sure helps.

YEah, my school offers the whole sell back, and then sell them used... I just hope that my teacher for my one class would pick a book... Or is it going to be complete hands on learning? Not sure! It's a new class... so they don't have a book yet.

I don't have to worry about where I have to buy books apparently. I asked the school book store about using my financial aid. ANd they said that as long as I come into the book store, I can use my Financial Aid to buy my books. Which I think is awesome. I'm going in tomorrow to do so.
