    90 Minute Quilt --I am a believer!

I looked at the you-tube video that was posted under "resources & links" telling how to do "90 minute"
quilts. I couldn't quite believe that was possible, but at 8:00 I decided to try. I used fleece on mine and was indeed done in under 2 hours. I was amazed! I will be using this technique more often on charity quilts, etc. I realized after I had cut out my blocks, that I had cut up a couple of pillow cases I had not sewn together. This "older" brain does not always compute things as rapidly as it once did. Here's the pictures.

    Very nice.
No matter how tough life is, it sure beats the alternative.

Did you fold or roll the edges? It is a very handsome quilt.

I'm curious about the backing/edging/binding. I can't find the 90 minute quilt tutorial on this board. Can you share a link?
    Thanks!

Very nice! At least the pillow cases were repurposed. Does the 90 minutes include the quilting?

I just turn the backing to the front and stitch with a decorative stitch--I do not turn the edge under. The fleece doesn't ravel so doesn't really need to be turned.

Another reader shared it below (probably "above" since I read it before writing this post.)

Great idea. Nice quilt. Thanks for sharing.
Desiderata (Max Ehrmann) - Walk placidly amid the noise and haste and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.

I see I didn't fully answer your question. I use fleece for my backing, but the tutorial uses batting and a backing--either works well. With fleece and then turning it to the front as the facing, it is pretty quick and easy. I use a decorative stitch on the edge of the binding--with fleece you do not need to turn it under.

Yes--the tutorial just used a straight stitch running diagonally thru the blocks. The tutorial shows how to do it with continuous stitching. With fleece, I felt like having the columns sewn down was plenty without additional quilting.

Very cool - thanks for sharing! I hope this "older" brain remembers this when I get back to making charity quilts.

Nice job! I'm sure someone will be warm and cozy under that quilt. What a great idea for a quick and simple kids quilt too!
