I use it to line the bottom of flower (or any) pots so dirt doesn't drain out of the holes. Or if you use the Styrofoam to line the bottom of the pots, instead of a piece of ceramic or a rock so it's lighter, the Styrofoam does not float on top when it rains and there's a lot of water accumulates in the pot.

I too was thinking garden. We put a covering that is see through, like a mesh or net to protect the fruit from the birds. I would think that would work for your net as well.
