I bought a sewing machine from the tv about 18 months ago and quickly learned that while it's a nice machine, I wanted something better. I've been quietly doing research on different machines for a while now. Well, I finally made my choice. So I start to talk about upgrades to my DH. You know, casual conversations about how this feature would be nice, or what my dream machine would be. So I've been talking one up all summer. I found one on ebay. Good price, no bids. I kept him updated on it. 3d some hrs. You know ebay. Well it gets to that last 15 minutes of the auction and he's just standing there grinning at me. I keep counting down the time. I looked at him and said "I know you're just enjoying torturing me." He just grins bigger. Son #4 wants to know whats going on. I say that DH hasn't said yes or no either way. I look at him expectantly. DH looks at me and says "Do you really want this machine?" DUH! I've only been talking about it for months. I don't say this, just think it really hard. "Yes, I do" I say sweetly. DH then stuns me and says "Go ahead." Wow, I really didn't think he'd say yes. So, there I was, 10 minutes on the count down until end of auction. I click to the page to make a bid, and freeze. My hands are shaking, my head is pounding, my lip is sweating. I was scared. But, I pushed through and placed my bid. Then I sat there for the next 9 minutes and 43 seconds watching to see if someone would come along and swoop in to win my new machine. I think my DH secretly hoped someone would. Yes, victory! I now have to transfer money from savings to checking to pay for it. I'm nervous all over again.

it will be fine, and congrats! what kind did you get?!
go through paypal, i think they have some kind of insuranse thing. i bought a juki and frame on ebay, and no problems, BUT she had a great feedback and that meant it was good for me..
i did sell a diamond ring once, and i used a third party to hold the money/ring until i was satisfied with the transaction..that was years ago..but I felt safer doing it that way, because it involved alot of money. good luck! happy sewing!

If you can possibly pay for it with a credit card, your payment will go thru faster and you will have more protection if something is wrong with the machine or the transaction (hoping both will be fine!)
Congrats on being the high bidder!!

I always try to pay Paypal via credit card in case there is a problem with the purchase. My credit card company has come through for me several times when Paypal did nothing.

Thanks, He is a great guy. Last month he bought me a new van. We did need one, but not as soon as we got one. So today we buy a Husqvarna Viking 870 Quilt. Yay Me! I am going to use paypal. Just needed to transfer money so I can use Visa debit. It should be here in 5 to 10 business days. It's a good thing I don't bite my nails anymore, or I'd be down to the nub.

I have heard from several computer gurus of mine that one should not use a debit, but a credit card for all online purchases. Just a thought. Good luck on the purchase. Bet you can't wait to get it.
