I've made those also. Another neat way it to put ice cubes in container, then pour hot wax.

I remember doing this in grammar school about a century ago. Can't imagine that children would be permitted to be around hot paraffin these days, but I really loved this project. Thanks for sharing. I didn't remember how it was done.

I did this with my kids (both in their 40s now) when they were little. They came out fabulously well! Thanks for the reminder. I will do this again. If I remember correctly, we threw in some old Crayola crayons also.

I've done this too in Girl Scouts and now with my DGC. We've also put some sand in a bucket, created a depression with the bottom of a glass or jar or box, then held a cut off taper candle in the center while filling the depression with hot wax.
They really liked those because the sand stuck to the bottom of the candle and because of the shapes.

Many years ago, when I taught 8th grade, as a project we made candles. One enterprising young man got the idea to make candles to sell. He did an amazing job just selling to the teachers in the school. I, too, have a couple of his candles. I was very proud of him. The candles were in a variety of styles, colors, and scents.

I remember doing that about 50 years ago! Crayon pieces worked really well to color the paraffin. Thanks for being that memory back.

Wish we would have known how to do this when we were kids! We decided to make a new color out of all our old ones. Well it blew up all over the kitchen that my mother had painted the day before. We never had a desire to melt colors again!
