    Barnbum,
I went to your web site and fell in love with your horses and your quilts. Everything is just beautiful. Thanks for letting me have a 'looksee' as my sister and I say.

The opening ceremonies were outstanding and I quilted and watched until it was entirely over.

My only concern is about the luge run. It seems to me like they should evaluate the safety of it before any further competition or practices. The turn where the young man perished has been referred to as the 50/50 turn. And that is what the athletes themselves call it! Fix it, fix it, fix it.......

(at least they should cover those huge poles with some substantial padding)

I am currently in Vancouver as guests of my dear SIL and hubbie. The energy here is exciting. We went to a dress rehearsal of the opening ceremonies and it was amazing. Not everything translated well to TV but I hope all who watched enjoyed the opening. As a Canadian, it was a program which completely reflected the Canadian psyche. I felt totally at home watching it live and then on TV. It encapsulated the Canadian spirit.
However, everything pales in comparison to the tragic event at the slide centre. So shocking, so sad. Our prayers are for this dear boy's family.

I loved what Canada did to show the world what a diverse and cultured country it is :)....but we on this QB knew that from our friends here, now didn't we :) :)?
I'm looking forward to the games, they seem to do wonderful things for people everywhere.

We watched the Opening Ceremony and absolutely loved it. I was amazed at that number of people who thought the Ceremony should have been put off because of the extremely unfortunate accidental death of a contestant. Knowing the spirit of all who compete, I'm sure he would have wanted things to go just the way it went. They honored him and that is exactly how it should be. God Bless

I thought the opening ceremonies were wonderful. Very uniquely Canadian ... refreshing, just like our friends to the Great White North, eh!

Have been enjoying the ski jumping (tremendous what those athletes do!), and moguls competition. It always fascinates me, I guess in light of the fact that I have the worst knees of anyone I know. I feel every single bump those athletes hit on their way down the mountain! Nice to see the Canadians take home a GOLD on their home soil. We in the US are proud of our athletes, but I saw an interview this morning with Wayne Gretzky and I think he summed it up best. His children were with him and they were watching an event (speed skating, I think). His daughter wanted to know who to root for (they live in Los Angeles). He said, well, the Canadians are in red, and the US is in blue. His daughter decided to cheer for the Canadians ... this time! He then said, we're awfully proud of our athletes, but if they can't win, it's nice when the US athletes can win.

Here in Michigan, I think we feel the same way!

    Go USA! Go Canada!
