This is my pond that I dug by hand. I call it "Back Breaker Pond" because that's what it did to me! At least I got it done before breaking & I enjoy it alot, It has several large goldfish, Many frogs, and it attracts lots of dragonflies, butterflies and birds.
It's 10 feet by 17 feet and about 3 feet deep. The fish & frogs can stay in it during our very cold winters.

Wow, you should charge for private tours of that pond. Your flowers are beautiful. Do you do landscape quilts? This photo would make a beautiful one.

I love your frog chasers. I have one to, but she doesn't have any frogs to chase. :( The pond is beautiful and I can see why you call it back breaker.

Yes, I use 2 small pond heaters that I put in front of the intake/filter/pump basket so that the water there doessn't freeze. The water is then pushed through a 2" buried tubing that fills the waterfall basket at the other end. I could just take the pump out & let it freeze on top. I've been told that only about the top 4" of water would freeze but I find that hard to believe since when we had an above ground pool 4ft. deep I was able to walk on top of it!

I used some old carpet padding, then a felt liner and then a thick rubber liner. The pond is about 4 yrs. old now.
