Lol I agree with this recommendation, especially the grumbling part.

Is he alive? Turn on the iron. Maybe he'll back out. LOL. I would give it to my DH too. I'm a little squeamish with bugs and etc.

"What's that bug doing in my iron?" she asked.
Hubby looks closely: "Looks like the backstroke!" Just an old soup and waiter joke. My first thought was vinegar. That would assure it is dead, and after pouring it all out, I'd do the vinegar clean that they recommend for irons. Not that I think to do it very often.

Take the iron outside and dump it out there. Bugs don't bother me. My Granddaugher would let out a piercing scream that would deafen me. She hates bugs and spiders and snakes.

Oh -ell no!!
Even as poor as I am, I'd have tossed that iron right in the outside trash and headed to Wallyworld for the next one!!!! <shutter, grimace, chills, yucks>

Put a stopper in the bathroom sink and turn the iron upside down and shake it -- pour more water in it and repeat the process until the bug comes out. I say do this in the sink so you can be sure it comes out and where it lands.

It's just a bug...nothing to throw the iron out over by any means.
