Peanut Butter is to go up 40% due to the extreme heat we had this summer without rain. Peanut crop did not do well. At my house we eat a lot of PB. I have been buying it for a while as I find it on sale. I have several jars stocked up for eating and holiday baking. Not I need to get jelly made.

My daughter in college lives on PB... When I drove her down to California we took many jars so she should be good for a while :-D I've seen the price already go up at Fred Meyer stores from $2.79 to $4.29 for Adams PB! :hunf:

guess I better get a jar for my son. I can't stand it- not even the smell. When he was in high school, he'd eat 4 sandwiches on the way to school (I drove him). I'd make him open the window, even in the winter since I couldn't stand the smell. He still thinks it's funny to wave a sandwich under my nose to see me gag.

I think this is the second thread on this board about peanut butter prices going up. When I saw the first thread, I checked out prices, and they were only up about 20 cents (for a small jar of Jif).
The next week, when I was ready to buy, one supermarket had them on sale, only they were sold out. The week after - that's this week - they'd gone up another 40 cents.
Okay, so that's a 60 cent increase in a short time. And it sounds like the price will go higher, but there's a reason: a bad peanut season.
Now... I also needed a jar of Ragu spaghetti sauce. The price in the same amount of time has increased by over a dollar! And that bad tomato season was a couple of years ago, so what's the explanation for that????
