Until you've actually made a quilt, you have no idea how much
time (and love) goes into the completion of it. To have your
quilt appreciated sooooo much is really special!

I really miss my mom, too.

I know just how your mom felt! How often do we as a mom, get such positive loving feedback on how we did? Especially is real concrete useable words.
Two right of the top of my head: I outright bawled at work when one of my sons had flowers delivered to me for my birthday, and the card was all about how much he appreciated me for always being there, etc. My oldest son's wife had me crying when she told me how really well she thought I did in raising my four kids.
All the fears and uncertainities you go through as your children are growing up, wishing they came with owners manuals.... And to hear them say, after all of it, that you done good? No better feeling on Earth! And then you combine that with a beautiful quilt, you made with love.....

what a wonderful story. many times when I quilt I think of my Mum that has been gone for 17 yrs. She was my inspiration for quilting. i know she would just love to be with me during these first years of my quilting experience. during the times when i'm not sure what I'm doing, I find myself saying, Mum, what's next. Angel on my shoulder. Love ya, Mum

BTW, MIL is 102 and still living on her own - worked til she was 92 -

and is sharp as a tack.
