Someone told me once.........."Birthdays are good for you. The more you have, the longer you live".

I am 43...somedays I feel older but most days I I cant figure out how my kids got to be grown when I havent aged!!!!!
|
Well I am the opposite of you folks. i hate telling my age. Mostly because I cant even believe it. Where have the years gone.
In my mind I am 35 |
I am 30 and aging like a finely made quilt :-) With love and warmth and enjoying every moment I can!
Hugs April |
I'm 61. I still run my own business, and I work as much as I can and have no plans to retire. However, I do wonder if my 2 daughters will ever get off the dime and give me some grandkids. Sure, I have days when I don't feel so great, but I always did. As long as you stay active and interested in something, I don't think you'll get "old."

I guess I automatically assume that older people can't be bothered to keep up with technology and I was pleasantly surprised to find how many people here are of that generation and just as capable as the rest, and with more experience on the subject at hand than I!

I got my first PC over 25+ years ago and have used one almost daily ever since. I introduced computers & the internet to my kids, who are now older than you are.

I would say PCs have been in most people's homes for 15 - 20 years now. Granted, my parents' generation (70s+) has more trouble with them than mine, but there are people of all ages that are savvy and others of all ages that use them without understanding them. What's funny is that I didn't get my first PC until I was 34. But I'd learned about them back in 1980, when you had to maintain your computer yourself and program any apps you wanted (except for games and word processing - and the first computer spreadsheet had just been invented). When I got mine in 1994, I knew you could buy more apps, but I had no idea most people no longer maintained their own systems, so I set out to learn to do my own upgrades and installs and troubleshooting. It changed my life, because I ended up working in IT (not doing maintenance, though). Well, I meant older people like, 70s and up, and I didn't mean the computers didn't do much work, just that I didn't do much work :) That being said, my uncle, who died about 2 years ago and was in his 80s, was the biggest computer genius I have ever met. And I have several friends who are computer geeks. |
No problems with my age! I'm 53...54 in November. Hubby is 42..and I have two sons ages 36 and 30...two stepdaughters ages 21 and 19. Seven grands ranging in age from 19 to 18 months. (Mom at 16, Nana at 34!!)

I forgot!

Very cool about your uncle - sorry to hear he died. Of course there were computer geniuses even in the '40s & '50s, but back then, you almost had to be a genius to deal with computers. |
46 and will turn 47 in August...my husband turns 60 in February and we have 5 boys between us aged 33 down to 17.
I think my mother worries more about my age than I do...she can't believe I'm galloping towards 50 (I am her eldest). I don't have a problem with age...just try and keep in mind - if you don't use it...you lose it! |

55. I don't dye my hair, don't want a face lift, don't want to change a thing. I tell everyone, then I let them know that life has never been better than after I hit 50.
|
You know, I have heard it said that as you get older you get better....at that rate, I figure, I must be approaching magnificence!!!!!!!!!!
Getting older sure beats the heck out of the alternative! :-D |
Im old enough to know better and young enough to do it anyway!!

Trust me, being a grandmother is super! Makes you wonder why you didn't have the grandkids first! |
I'm 57 and my hubby is 59.

Im 36 and my hubby is 39 tomorrow (Wednesday) and we have a 16 year old daughter. I am the youngest and coolest mom of my daughters friends...or at least that is what they tell me...I like that! Glad I had my daughter young (20). I could be an empty-nester at 40!!!

I realise that I'm one of the younger people on this forum, but honestly I think it so cool that there are older folks who are just as computer savvy and up to date with technology to be able to keep up with the younger generation. My grandmother could barely work a remote control for the TV, nevermind telling it apart from the one for the VCR. But then again.....I still mess up on that damm mobile phone! Cheers & hugs If we had those things, we would not have been allowed to use them. So a lot of ppl my age have inhibitions and just plain, no patience for the electronic gadgets. OTOH, those things were in the house as my children were coming up and they weren't discouraged so, they didn't develop inhibitions about them. They weren't afraid if they pushed a button to learn what it would do, afraid that the sky was going to fall down...so they pushed here and there, and when they got a good result, they remembered it. The parents were impressed and proud of themselves for having such smart kids. The over 40's set, has as much intelligence for these machines as anybody else, they just have so many things they feel they must get done, they never developed the patience, and usually there is a kid...a grown one that comes by, or a grandchild visits and we don't have to learn. I will say this: It seems to me, that some ppl are just better 'wired' for the gadgety things. I like the study of electricity and I like fiddly fabric things, but somehow, never developed much confidence with machines. It's a lack of interest. I don't watch tv or movies, so I just don't really care, until my grandbaby is here...and then,...what do I need to know for? lol! |
I'm 55 TODAY & proud of it! After having breast cancer & wondering if I would see another birthday I look at things a lot differently now. Now I'm so thankful when they come around every year! It's all in how you look at things-sometimes you just need to change your perspective!
|
I will be 53 on my next birthday...Not so bad.
|
I'm not ashamed to admit I am 68 years old or young, whichever, and I will be married 50 years the 12th of February.
I don't feel I have aged, but hubby has!!!! WONDER WHY? |
I love being in my senior years, 69!!! Especially considering the alternative. I had cancer when I was 36 and have appreciated the gift of life ever since.
|
I'm 50 now and hope to make it to retirement age. The way things are going, it'll be another 25 years before I can afford to retire.
|
If you'd asked me that 15 months or so ago I would have told you how much I dreaded my upcoming 50th birthday in July of 09. But in Dec of '09 I was diagnosed with stage four primary peritoneal cancer, and didn't think I'd live to see my 50th BD. Now I'm cancer free and couldn't be happier to be in my 50s. And now I have this wonderful new hobby and all these creative bursts that I never had before so I am extremely happy and proud to be a member of AARP! 8-)

I'm 61 and proud of it. To prove it I just bought a new car. IT IS RED! What better way to announce to the world this grandma is hip?
|
I'll be 73 in April and every night I thank God for the day I just had. My mom will be 94 in May. I expect to live at least that long.
