without giving it out, is there anyone on this forum who is embarrassed by his or her age? embarrassed enough to not want the rest of us to know?

amma 01-02-2010 03:40 PM

Not me... I have spilled it many times on here 8-)8-)8-)

redquilter 01-02-2010 04:21 PM

Not me. What's to be embarrased about? It's a fact and it doesn't make a bit of difference to me. I am what I am!

wvdek 01-02-2010 04:25 PM

Not me-55 next b-day. I earned every year and grey hair. Ok, so I only have a few grey hairs.

nursie76 01-02-2010 04:28 PM

wvdek - Right there with you! Mine happens in April how about yours?

Never ashamed of my age, I am as old as I am...some days I feel everyone of my years and then some, others I feel very young in spirit!

MadQuilter 01-02-2010 04:54 PM

why do you ask? ...and no, age is one of those irrefutable facts of life. I'd rather be whatever age I am than entertaining the alternative.

butterflywing 01-02-2010 07:50 PM

let me rephrase the question: is there anyone here who is willing to announce hers or his age out loud? i'm not embarrassed to begin. 66 years old and loving every minute.

QuiltMania 01-02-2010 07:52 PM

43

It ain't the years that are important, it's the mileage.

butterflywing 01-02-2010 07:54 PM

nope. it's where those miles have taken you.

martha jo 01-02-2010 08:06 PM

70 here

Ybridgegal 01-02-2010 08:13 PM

Oh well I might as well tell the world, 61, everyone at work knows and it's the head and the heart that will always be young...age only counts when I hurt.

I will be 34 in May! I have enjoyed my 30's more than my 20's

butterflywing 01-02-2010 08:17 PM

Yes I have been lurking around. So many things to do so little time....LOL :)

oksewglad 01-02-2010 08:52 PM

I'm 57. I told my sister today when I called her for her BD, "I'm still 5 years younger than you."
OBTW when our younger sis turned 50 she sent sympathy cards to us as our baby sister was now a half century old and the rest of us even older.
Having a sense of humor keeps us all young

joy 01-02-2010 08:54 PM

I was 75 last August and didn't start making quilts until 3 years ago from last September... loving it... mainly community quilts. You are never too old to learn anything at all...

littlehud 01-02-2010 09:23 PM

Yipee. I'm 57 too and I love it. I've earned every gray hair and all my aches and pains and life is still wonderful. I have great kids and a wonderful DGD. Life is good.

purplemem 01-02-2010 09:26 PM

I will be 52 January 10th and very grateful to still be breathing and creating. I wouldn't trade anything for my life or my gray hair, I've earned and learned with every day.

Leota 01-02-2010 09:26 PM

No. I'm 54 55 in May... Cinco deMayo ! yep that's my bd :D

Elisabrat 01-02-2010 09:27 PM

48 and worked darned hard for it. THAT SAID, I went to the thrift store three days ago. I picked up two little books $1.00.. the woman said oh today is Senior day so you save... I was speechless.. I don't hesitate to say I am as old as dirt but when you look oh 20 yrs older than you are.. sigh.. to come home relate the tale to my dear one who laughed went out and got the mail. Tossed it on the table and waited. A letter from AARP for me. So no I dont mind my age, it doesnt mind me. I do and would rather live and EARN each additional year vs be gifted it in doses!

sewNso 01-02-2010 09:33 PM

62 and loving retirement. I'm a red head, no gray hair, except a few that peek out between dye jobs.

aussie croydon 01-02-2010 10:03 PM

I am more than happy to say my age 47 in April. I am lucky to have survived a massive heart attack at 36 years old. My children were only 7 and 7 months old. I am just grateful and blessed to be able to grow old with my husband and two children.
Cheers Jakcie.

G-Maw Wilda 01-02-2010 10:11 PM

I just turned 55 in Nov., sometimes I feel very old and then other days I feel like a teenager.

I have learned a lot throughout these past years, wouldn't change that if I could.

Not ashamed to say it here (I'm 50), but I decided to stop being so open about it at work (when I'm working again) because a couple of years ago when I was 47 - 48, it scared some of my younger co-workers. They'd been treating me as a peer (which I wanted - as in, hey, we're all adults here) and it unnerved them to realize I was old enough (or almost, in the case of the early thirtysomethings) to be their mother. Teens all think I'm a senior citizen, though, so go figure.

blahel 01-03-2010 04:13 AM

happy to be alive and 47 wonderful years have passed..consider myself to have had 42 years 'extra' as got hit by a car and almost died when i was 5 so every year after that is a bonus!!

pocoellie 01-03-2010 06:20 AM

I'm 59 and glad to be here.

Baren*eh*ked_canadian 01-03-2010 06:33 AM

I'm 28.
I realise that I'm one of the younger people on this forum, but honestly I think it so cool that there are older folks who are just as computer savvy and up to date with technology to be able to keep up with the younger generation.
My grandmother could barely work a remote control for the TV, nevermind telling it apart from the one for the VCR. I guess I automatically assume that older people can't be bothered to keep up with technology and I was pleasantly surprised to find how many people here are of that generation and just as capable as the rest, and with more experience on the subject at hand than I!

liblueeyes 01-03-2010 06:45 AM

43 with two girls 18( lives with me) and 23(married) - feel way young to have kids that age. My oldest is talking about having a baby. I don't know if I am ready for Grandma yet!
