It IS VERY GRAPHIC though, not for the squeamish

Quiltin'Lady 02-19-2011 12:15 PM

WOW!!!!

That really is the most amazing thing I've ever seen. The article I read about it says that while this is only good for 2nd-degree burns at the moment, they hope to develop something similar for 3rd-degree burns.

Thanks for sharing!

carhop 02-19-2011 12:15 PM

that is amazing boy it sure made a diffrence on the man they need to use it at any hospital and all burn centers. Just think how many people would be saved from disfigureing scars

QuiltingNinaSue 02-19-2011 12:24 PM

Wonder how soon they can offer it to burn centers around the world??? Great video.

barbsmith 02-19-2011 12:35 PM

This is truly amazing. What a wonderful help it would be to burn victims.

Deecee 02-19-2011 12:36 PM

Unfortunately I couldn't open the link here.

It contained content from National Geographic who blocked the video on copyright grounds.

Had to pass this along to everyone I know!!! Our son, years ago, was working at Kaiser Aluminum and fell into some hot metal. He was rushed to the ER. The burns were on his hands and his buttox. WOW, if only we had been aware of it back then, his suffering would have been so much less. He is fine now and no longer works there.

Maride 02-19-2011 12:57 PM

Incredible! We need more breakthrough technology like that. Thanks for posting.

miss_ticky2 02-19-2011 01:06 PM

Nope can't open either links here either..same reason

Simply remarkable!!!

Jan in VA 02-19-2011 03:44 PM

Four days later total healing from 2nd degree burns on face, neck, shoulder, arm from a blazing fire. Unbelievable!!

I hope this doctor is magnificiently compensated; this is bigger than, maybe, open heart surgery!

Get it to our troops like yesterday!!

bjnicholson 02-19-2011 03:49 PM

Wow is right! I can't think of another word for it...maybe amazing!

Anne P 02-19-2011 03:56 PM

Why hasn't there been anything in the news about this? It is amazing!!!! I hope it gets lots and lots of publicity in the medical field so it gets used more. They said only 12 people had used it so far. Of course, I don't know when this was published, but I think there should be a tremendous use for the procedure.

CarrieAnne 02-19-2011 04:02 PM

Amazing!

Patty Patches 02-19-2011 04:12 PM

How wonderful, hope they get it out to all the people who need it soon

YQuilts 02-19-2011 05:54 PM

What a shame..even on youtube the video is blocked in Canada too.

Yooper32 02-20-2011 04:18 AM

Unbelievable results! WOW! What a boon for burn victims who usually, if they make it, are so scarred. This man who invented this procedure should be put up for some medal of honor.

Psychomomquilter 02-20-2011 04:21 AM

awesome, really graphic, but still awesome how medicine has come so far!

Flapper 02-20-2011 04:51 AM

sandpat 02-20-2011 06:59 AM

Unbelievable!

Elisabrat 02-20-2011 07:00 AM

I was all set and ready to watch the video then Amma posted its graphic and well that took me out. Completely and without apologies. Not into graphic. I am sure its amazing however :)

suedonnie 02-20-2011 08:10 AM

Wow that is great!

amandasgramma 02-20-2011 08:26 AM

WOW!!!! Amazing!!! Will be wonderful when it's finally approved for everyone that's severely burned!

Lyn 02-20-2011 08:30 AM

I never understood why movie stars and sports stars get the big money and the headlines but the scientists that come up with life saving devices never even make the news. This would be amazing for our soldiers, firemen, children etc. I cannot imagine the pain a burn victim goes through but to heal this fast is amazing.

steelecg 02-20-2011 08:47 AM

wow, isn't medical advancement good - I hope that this really is the answer for burn patients -

margie77072 02-20-2011 10:03 AM

Absolutely amazing!!

isnthatodd 02-20-2011 10:10 AM

Thanks for posting this. The graphic part shown some severely burned skin.

lalaland 02-20-2011 10:38 AM

Not to be the skeptic or anything, but the video didn't actually show us anything. The gentleman who was burned said half his face, and his arm, were burned, yet they only treated the arm so how come the rest of him looked so good? Can't get that result from a skin graft. And there were no before and after pictures of him. Why not? Pictures are always taken of bad injuries for study and treatment options.

novicesew 02-20-2011 11:29 AM

How marvelous...only wish they had this procedure when my precious Dad was burned. A burn is horrible.

Anamafajo 02-20-2011 12:29 PM

wow I am blown away! I am a nurse and the potential for this type of tecnology is unending. Thanks for sharing.

It appears to be a valid development. The Youtube video came from NationalGeographic, and I found the following Wikipedia article on Dr. Fiona Wood of Australia who developed the technique:

I agree it is amazing. Thank God whom all things are formed...
It took one man to think of the idea and God given talent to finish the rest. Thanks for sharing it...
