Either stand behind our troops or stand in front of them.

I love this one!! I honk whenever I see it on the road. My brother's says "If you're going to burn the American flag, please do us all a favor and wrap yourself up in it first."

I'm with you. Could you explain it, please?

SherryLea 09-18-2010 03:51 PM

I'm not sure but I think it means that some people are too stupid to come in out of the cold. I am just guessing

found the back story: http://www.barrypopik.com/index.php/...eeze_a_yankee/

The bumper sticker “Let them freeze in the dark” appears to have started by a Wyoming company in February 1973. Energy prices were rising, but toughened environmental laws prevented finding more energy sources. The “them” were the environmentalists.

Texans had other reasons (besides environmental restrictions on energy) for “freezing Yankees” in 1973-74. Federal regulations had required supplying Northeast customers with oil and natural gas at regulated prices. Also, Northeast politicians had suggested that Texans should have conserved energy during this out-of-state energy giveaway.
...
It was a rather crass way of saying that if the people in the northeastern portion of the United States continued to insist that natural gas and oil prices by controlled at all levels which made drilling unreasonable, then let them do without heat.

IF THEY demanded unreasonable tough environmental laws and refused to allow offshore drilling in their own areas, let them do without lights.

Redkimba is right. "They" are the eviromentalists....I first heard the expression at a mining convention that I attended with my then husband and his boss...enviromentalists were doing their best to shut down all mining, oil exploration and production, and believe it or not, trucking. Without those three things, there are no lights, no heat, no cars, no lots of things...look around you at how many things run on electricity, run on gas, how much metal surrounds you in your enviroment? And...if you have it? It got to you on a truck...

All of that aside... I got my former DIL a bumper sticker that read: Blonde with the wind.. and one for my son that said "Yes, this is my truck, No, I won't help you move"

I just saw a lot of quilt related bumper stickers...where else? The internet, lol. I'm not really a bumper sticker person but I might buy some of these corresponding coffee cups! :-D Here are some of them:

~Beware: I have a size 12 betweens and I know how to use them!
~Don't drink and quilt.
~Warning! Don't get between me and my sewing machine!
~Make quilts, not war! (Great, since I have family overseas)
~Can't sleep: Must quilt, must quilt, must quilt, must quilt.
~My sewing machine is smarter than your honor student (and, in our school district, my machine could be smarter than the local students :-( )
~I do all my own quilt stunts!
~Runs with cutters (with a drawing of a rotary cutter below).

DH had one for his pickup that said "if you value your life as much as I value this truck, DON'T *&^% with it"

Since I despise people who tailgate constantly, I love the one that says, " Unless you are a hemorroid, get off my a@@"

Hang up and drive...we are all safer that way.
