Ok, everyone, here goes...

What's the best thing you ever ate? It has to be edible!

I'll start: Caviar

Wow. This is hard. I guess I will go with wild raspberries. In a bowl with a little sugar and a big spoon.

A [BIgggggg] bowl of strawberries, or strawberry shortcake

Charlee 03-24-2010 05:22 PM

The scallops that nearly killed me, wrapped in bacon and grilled...the night I ate those wonderful things, I had my first allergic reaction to them...blistering hives that lasted for six weeks...

Probably knowing that I can't have them again makes them more attractive...~sigh~

2wheelwoman 03-24-2010 05:28 PM

BBQ Ribs, without a doubt

raptureready 03-24-2010 05:29 PM

My mom's beef & noodles and homemade bread with one of her many jams. Everything (including the cows and the eggs to make the noodles) came from their farm and was wonderful.

Wild morel mushrooms.

canmitch1971 03-24-2010 05:30 PM

My Mother's cooking especially her homemade beans. Yum I miss them.

Strawberries, picked right out of the field, in season in Quebec... No better ones exist.

Oh and the wild ones that are teeny tiny, but sooo yummy!

Apples picked right out of the orchard in the fall around here are amazing too.

Flan at a little home restarant in Honduras, ran by an old grandma about 1000 years old, and her grandchildren. I've had a lot of Flan, but this one has such sweet memories.

Maride 03-24-2010 07:36 PM

Also BBQ at Ozark, Arkansas.

Lisanne 03-24-2010 07:39 PM

There is just no way I can say there was one BEST thing I EVER ate. I narrowed it down to savory roast beef, sugar-sweet fresh fruit (I couldn't choose among all my favorites) or creamy Haagen-Dazs chocolate ice cream - and then I remembered ice cold fresh-squeezed orange juice... nope, sorry, can't choose just one.

drivingsusan 03-24-2010 07:43 PM

Lobster, lobster & more lobster!!!

magnolia 03-24-2010 08:03 PM

I will have to say cheese, can't go wrong there and there are so many choices. :)

GMA 03-24-2010 08:10 PM

I agree, too hard to choose one - so from food groups, chocolate - yes that is a food group. crab cakes and raw oysters, fresh strawberries

charismah 03-24-2010 08:14 PM

This is really hard! But I have to say that after I gave birth to my fourth child...I was starving and they brought me banana cake...I ate it so fast..but I thought at the time it was the best thing I had every eaten in my whole life! LOL. Hospital food? Who knew?

Other than that?? I would say watermelon on a hot day

or clam chowder on a cold day

or fresh baked rolls?

LindaM 03-24-2010 08:21 PM

Visiting Montreal, we were being treated at a wonderful little restaurant with lots of old world charm and different wine with each course ... the finale was a creme brule selection - four gorgeous little cups with different flavours - vanilla bean, berry, hazelnut and chocolate. Glorious!

JanetM 03-24-2010 08:35 PM

My Grandma's Chicken 'n Noodles (a Depression meal).

Alu_Rathbone 03-24-2010 08:50 PM

Svicova... Or rather, Pickled beef. It's rump roast marinated in vinegar and veggies. Also some spices to marinate it. It is then served with a white gravy made of pickling juices and sour cream. Bread dumplings are a must with this dish. You can usually find this served at Bohemian (Czech) Restaurants. Tastes fantastic... more fantastic than it sounds!!!

kaylorin 03-24-2010 09:05 PM

Clam chowder from the cafe in Wittier, Alaska....a VERY close 2nd would be the rolls and cinnamon butter from Texas Roadhouse....

Elisabrat 03-25-2010 02:37 AM

Mamagus 03-25-2010 02:52 AM

My Mom's cooking... I only hope that someday my kids will say that I was as a good as cook as she was! She died when they were in university so they remember how good she was!

Chele 03-25-2010 03:17 AM

All of these foods sound so yummy! I'd love the mushroom stew recipe. I have numerous favorite foods, but I'm craving steamed blue crabs and oysters right now.

mcdaniel023 03-25-2010 03:44 AM

Melt in your mouth prime rib. LOVE IT!!!!!!

GladGrams 03-25-2010 03:47 AM

On our last vacation in Krakow, Poland we ate in a place called "Under the Angels" and I ordered breast of duck prepared over a hickory fire. It was the best meal I ever ate in my life! That "dead duck" as we laughingly called it, was better than any expensive cut of beef I have tasted anywhere. Was pleasantly surprise at the culinary expertise in Poland.

Otherwise, since I am from Norway, I have to say that nothing beats a good roast of reindeer with wild game sauce , and of course, home made Norwegian waffles with raspberries and sour cream for dessert.

deedles215 03-25-2010 04:04 AM

Freshly baked homemade rolls or bread. My mouth is watering!!

Any cut of pork. Bacon, ham, roast, ribs, smoked... there's nothing better!!! YUM!
