Your comment reminded me of my parents, my mom read aloud to my dad every night when he was dying of cancer and they both really enjoyed that. Maybe you could find new people to read aloud to: children who are hospitalized, retirement homes, etc. You would probably find it very rewarding.

I read a lot of nonfiction lately, I just finished Sapiens a Brief History of Mankind by Yuval Noah Harari. Also recently finished Salt A World History by Mark Kurlanksky, currently working on When Women Ruled the World Six Queens of Egypt by Kara Cooney and Good Reasons for Bad Feelings Insights from the Frontier of Evolutionary Psychiatry by Randolph M Nesse MD

I also love Tom Clancy novels and those little murder mysteries with themes like coffeehouse or tea shop etc that are written by the dozens, I have a stack of Christmas murder mysteries ready to go

OMG, I just finished Sonny Boy (Al Pacino) and it was fantastic!
I listened to the audio and he read it. I felt like I was having coffee with a friend.
I want to listen all over again.
What a life! And he is very kind about other people he's been with or worked with.

I just finished listening to Framed by John Grisham and Jim Mccloskey. Not fiction but tells the stories people wrongly convicted and efforts to exonerate them. Interesting and scary but not a thriller

I just read a funny book that is a spoof on the murder of Humpty Dumpty. It's not new by any means and has lots of references to characters in nursery rhymes. For instance, the investigators are Jack Spratt and Mary Mary. Anyway, it's called The Big Over Easy by Jasper Fforde. It's an easy, light read if you're looking for something like that.

Always warms my heart when this thread comes up and I am needing new recommendations as usual!

I'm still working my way through Chet and Bernie, think I'm about halfway. Found out that my hubby's cousin loves the books too :) Also working with Murderbot, both of those series are popular and I often have weeks of hold time between books.

I enjoyed Salt, it was a funny coincidence I was thinking about "localvores" and whether they make/get local salt.

I am many years behind the Alex Delaware novels by Jonathan Kellerman, think I'm around book 24 out of 40?? Not sure if I'm just sort of in a slump but they are ok. Nice thing is there are plenty of them!

Sadly, no books I've been really excited about in the last month or so.

Iceblossom, I also like to see this thread pop up! I just finished reading Annie Bot by Sierra Greer. It's an AI generated "companion" who is named Annie by her owner. Their relationship has ups and downs and has some similarities to a human to human relationship but much of it is strange to think about. There is mention of sex but no graphic detail, for those who prefer not to read that type of book. I wouldn't give it 5 stars, more like 4, but I enjoyed the book and it was a quick read.

I sm listening to The Perfume Collector by Kathleen Tessarsro. I am also reading Summer Island by Kristen Hannah. Enjoying both.
