Aren't vision improvements wonderful? I still have various issues and actual reading wears me out, but I have it as an option now and really helps with things like menus, but I really enjoy the options that audio books give me.

The first couple of Maisie Dobbs books, they say her name so much it was making my head spin. Lol, it calms down some. She also has a memoir and has started a new series.

I have done some Annabel Chase.

I just finished (after my previous most recent post) a non-sex little romance cozy. So far there are 3? After one I will continue, A Botanists Guide to Parties and Poisons by Kate Khavari.

Also right after my last post, my library got in a ton of new books. Some times there are a lot for me, other times not so much, but my holds list went from the 3 or so non-released yet books I had to about 20. Many are pre-release and it will be some time before I actually get them.

The library didn't have all the Elm Creek Quilter books, I think one of the pre-releases was one of those, but two were ones I had previously missed.

There is a new book by Mary Stewart (non-fiction), The Tree Collectors. I really had fun with the Kopp Sisters series.

In one of those interesting coincidences, one of the books on my "Wish List" (from the library, not the Libby app) became available yesterday and it was an Annabel Chase, Pink Moon, a new series for me. Looks like (so far at least) there are only 3. Wish List is a place to put interesting books that I don't want to commit to, but I'll check there when I'm otherwise running low.

I've most recently been reading fantasy books. I finished the 3rd Empyrean book, Onyx Storm, and loved it! I'm currently reading The Serpent and the Wings of Night and have found it a pretty good book to read right after the action-packed Onyx Storm.
If I haven't already mentioned it in this thread, I recently read a hilarious play on Humpty Dumpty falling off the wall. Was it a murder? The title is The Big Over Easy and it uses many nursery rhyme characters in this books. For instance, Jack Spratt and Mary Mary are investigating this potential crime. Lots of laughs in this book and reminders of characters I had long forgotten about. Definitely a fun read!

Same old thread, same position of needing more suggestions. There are a couple on my list from this list still, but not many.

Is sometimes interesting how books I select/put on hold at different times come together in themes or patterns. My last two books went together pretty well. The first was non-fiction, The Waiting Game by Nicola Clark, about the ladies-in-waiting largely at the court of Henry the VIII and his many wives. The second was indie fiction, female bonding after the great Plague. The Alewives by Elizabeth R Andersen. I kind of went up and down through this book but decided to go on to the second. Third is scheduled for release in October.

I did enjoy both the lastest Joe Picket (CJ Box), and Cold Iron Task by James J Butcher (the son of the Dresden files author). I took another try at the Mary Russell/Mrs Sherlock, and after several books abroad that didn't catch my interest enjoyed The Murder of Mary Russell, and will continue on (again).

I am rereading the "Miss Fortune" books by Janna DeLeon. They are a hoot. A former CIA girl along with two ex-Vietman spy women in their 70's who get into all kinds of trouble solving murders in a small town in Louisiana. There are 28 books so far and you can't go wrong with any of them.

Sadly, my library doesn't seem to have any audio by Janna DeLeon. But I wanted to say at one point in my life I knew the Beach sisters -- Crystal, Sandy, and Coral Beach...

Even with my eyes working again, I still have issues reading and still prefer audio books, besides I can listen while I sew.

I've had a long stretch of "not much worth mentioning" in my reading. Lately though I've had more I liked/would recommend. I'm pretty much through most of the series I've previously mentioned, down to my last couple of Alex Delaware (by Jonathan Kellerman) books. I went through a period of several of the Mary Russell/Mrs Sherlock books that I didn't like, but am enjoying them again, only have a few left, Castle Shade will be the next one up but it will be a bit before I get to it. Lots of holds coming available first!

I don't seem to be ready to deal with books exploring Covid. During Covid I pretty much stopped any number of post-disaster dystopian books. Recently though, I did find a not-to-direct but drawing parallel books, the Alewives books mentioned a post or two above, taking place after the Black Death. I also found The Woman in the Wallpaper by Lora Jones interesting -- no real Covid tie-ins but during the French revolution so you can make some political tie-ins if you want...

I did enjoy Daisy Jones and The Six, would watch the tv series?? think it is a book that would translate well to screen.

I'm down to the last few minutes of Terry Brooks latest Shannara entry -- Galaphile. Interesting characters and story, don't really need any previous Shannara books to understand the world or characters. I really prefer starting series later, will have a long time to wait between books.

I think I have found a new fun for me series, Fred the Vampire Accountant by Drew Hayes. The first book is The Utterly Uninteresting and Unadventurous Tales of Fred, the Vampire Accountant. Which I am finding interesting! A different take on vampires and such, "Urban" fantasy that is taking place in more-or-less the current world. The first one I got from Graphic Audio, am going to try the next one without the background noise. Although I enjoyed the Graphic Audios of Murderbot, this is just so much NOISE in the background.

I just finished Killers of the Flower Moon. Also enjoyed The Queen of Sugar Hill about Hattie McDaniel.
Another one that is very informative is The Highest Law in the Land by Jessica Plishko.

I just finished When the Moon Hatched. It's first in a series. It took a bit to get into and overall, I only rated it 3 out of 5 stars. I doubt I'll read the next in the series. The book does get mixed reviews though as some ppl really loved it.
I recently read Quicksilver which I really enjoyed. It also will be one of a series. I would like to find more standalone fantasy books. I kind of tire of reading an entire series at times.

currently reading Black Annis Year: A Cozy Fae Fantasy (The Fair Folk of Mullarkey Book 1) Kindle Edition
by Kim McDougall. A favorite author but having a slog with this one. Feels more like a Harliquin Romance.

that said, those of you that depend on your local library, may find some services cut if you rely on it for things beyond hardbound books. Our washington libraries have been hit particularly hard by the March order to defund the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS)

Also working my way though the (kindle) Eternal Rest Bed and Breakfast Books 1-7: Paranormal Cozy Mystery Box Set
by Beth Dolgner . I like the Nightmare Arizona series much better, but it's fun watching ghost hunters come in and out of the B&B. So many ghosts so little time :)
