I figured they were massed produced and not surprised concerning the manufacturing these days. I've never purchased her products, but I have nothing bad to say about her creativity. I can remember when she started out.

I didn't know what a "Vera" was either. Looked at the web site. They are cute bags but I would make my own.

As the saying goes just because you work there doesn't mean you can afford the product. I know a few people who work there and I've never seen them carry VB products. One thing I would like to mention though the time it takes you to make your own version you can compare that to the price of a VB. Not that they would pay you that price but let's you know your's is worth as much or more because of the love you put into it.

Vera bags are nice but I love seeing the original ones made by quilters! They are always exciting and very special!

I love fabric so I am naturally drawn to ANY beautiful fabric bag no matter what the brand. I do own a few VB tote bags which are an excellent quality and I admit they are pricy but QVC sells them at lower prices!! I also own a few other brands and I love them just as much!! If it's made of a beautiful print and quality fabric then I'll love it no matter what the brand. A rose by an other name.....!:D

They are "pretty", but in my world, they do not have enough pockets, and are not functioanl enough for my taste. My Aunt tried to get me to buy one when I visted her last year, and quite frankly I would not pay the price for something I would not have liked or used. I made the "Professional tote" early last year and received many compliments on it. I don't have a photo, but I used a remnant yard of Laurel Burch, with complimentary fabrics, and added more pockets. As you all said, it was one of a kind, and I got so many compliments on my bag. I confess I am a Vera Bradley junkie, love the duffels for traveling. I have given them for Christmas presents.
I have found some excellent prices on Ebay.. I as well have seen really cute patterns for totes. I just prefer making quilts vs totes or purses...:rolleyes: |

My "Vera". I understand that the woman behind the name Vera Bradley grew up somewhere near Peoria, IL. I had not heard that she passed tho. The bags are fun and the designs of the purses, totes, etc are creatiive too. Sandy |
Yes I agree that Vera Bradely opened up the fashion world for quilted bags . Up to then, leather was the default choice. I think Vera bags are not so much the design as the fabric. Amy butler or Kaffe Fasset fabric is great for quilted bags, too.
