no -- numbers don't compute -- need pictures and words -- DH says I was his only failure as a physics tutor as the numbers would change and I couldn't work the problems -- even worse, I am certified to teach all levels of math on the junior/senior high level -- lol, it's a good thing that I am retired from teaching now

I agree! I have the math under control, but really don't have an artistic gene in my body. Thank goodness for patterns. But, I still have trouble picking colors.

There is a definite link between dominant brain and whether or not you do math or art - proven over and over and I've seen it when studying it in college classes.

What is scary is people not knowing enough math to make change or know if sometime added or subtracted is approximately correct. I teach Office Calculators in Community College and that always amazes me.

I'm very right-brained, too, and math has always been my challenge. But I married a mathematician! And guess what? He lovesto do the math I need for quilting!

Wish I could! I work in a position that quite often requires me to think fast and roll off percentages, total costs etc. And oh boy! Do I have to grab my calculator and figure and refigure!

I am an accountant so yes I do math. I taught bookkeeping and some get it very quickly and others just cannot get the concept. I finally decided you are born with that ability just like you are born to paint a picture or sing a song in perfect pitch. It is nice that calculators and computers have aided those that are math challlenged.

OK, I am no math expert either, i can do 2 + 2 and multiply and divide after that forget it, I have a son in his thirties and he went back to school and had to learn physics, geometry and calcules (not sure of the spelling) and he did it, i don't know how but he did. Such a smart young man, he takes after me of coarse.
Now with that said can someone answer me a question, the topic right before this one was "Pet Peeves" i wasn't able to respond, but noticed at the top it said "LOCKED" is that why??? And why did they do that or how?? Was wondering have seen too many because I just started in November. Thank You

Well lets see. 1t1= 11 right? Just kidding with you. I have a lot of problems too with my math.

I went back to school about 18 months ago (after 30+ years), did fine with math until I hit algebra. I just couldn't understand it. I had straight A's til then. Ended up getting a C in the class, after having my nephew tutor me, thought I was going to fail. This semester I am on the next level of algebra and doing much better. It just suddenly clicked.
