Bigs used to do that here in Louisville, Ky... Bigs is gone. It was a good idea.. keeps carts where they need to be.

I believe you get your quarter back when you return the cart to the store. The idea is to keep store costs down. I'm wondering how many will give up the quarter as they are lazy. I'm also hoping they can still provide help for the disabled to get their items to their car.

One grocery store here does that. I was told it accomplishes two things: carts are not left around the parking lot to get hit and it doesn't cut into employee time to collect them.
I'm ok with it but don't like the store enough to return there. Gotta say I would object to JoAnn's doing it unless they are willing to have someone spend time cleaning the huge gathers of threads from the wheels so the carts move smoothly. |
I understand the cart charges because some are too lazy to walk the cart back and besides you get your money back as at Aldi's. Keeps prices down

No way!

When they opened a new one in our area they put thoes in the store.I take a large shopping bag with me.I stop at the checkout and tell them and show the bag.I figure I spend alot of money in the store and dont think we should have to pay for a cart.

Some of our thrift stores have carts with a fishing pole like thingey on top so they won't go out the door. But with grocery stores, I can see this because no way am I going to tote a heavy load out the door way down the parking lot to my car. I do with the grocery stores would get with this.
Some of our grocery stores were talking about putting some sort of lock on the wheels and some sort of controls around the edges of their lot so the cart wheels would not roll after they passed that edge. All talk so far. |
Germany! One Euro a cart. You get it back when you put the cart back though.
|
most of our grocery stores have them.
the other anoying thing that is out there is carts that have some thing on them, when you go past a certain yellow line the flippin wheels lock! |
