I've read all the good ideas for cleaning shower stalls. I have a question: what is a good way to clean cooked on grease from a black stovetop? Sorry to admit that I've let it get ahead of me and I can't get the cooked on grease off. Any suggestions?

Try Dawn Power Dissolver.
I use it to clean my oven and the barbecue grill racks. I take the racks and put them in a big trash bag and squirt this on it and leave it for a few hours then use a wire brush. |
is this a glass stove top. smooth one? or does it have burners??

Is it ceramic/glass I still use the Mr. Clean erasers. They are chemical free and work amanzing. I use them on my ceramic/glass cooktop. I use a razor blade first to get off the burnt on foods then the eraser. but if it is not a ceramic/glass cooktop the razor blade might not be a good idea. but the eraser is not that expensive to try.

if you have a floor steamer, use that on the stovetop - you may have to throw away the cloth, but it should work without chemicals.

I've used all of those and the best so far is No Fume Easy Off for the oven. spray it on let it soak for 2 hrs.(You can sew while you wait.) Wipe off with a wet cloth. I know it says oven but it works on top too.

To clean grease on my stove, hard water stains on glass or porcelain, I use 0000 Steel Wool also. Yes, steel wool, but make sure it is 0000. You can use it on your stove, mirrors, porcelain, glass, cars, and just about anything you can think of that's not soft and it won't scratch it. I've been using it for years and it works wonderful. Once you get it clean, you'll be amazed at how easy it is to keep your stove top clean and shiny. Vinegar works great afterwards for shine. Cheryl |
After years of trying every product I could find, I very reluctantly (an carefully!) resorted to the razor blade! OMG! I could not believe how easily and completely it cleaned off the gunk! Now I just keep the stove top wiped off as well as i can, and then about every 2 weeks or so, out comes the good ol' razor blade.

I've used a razor blade to get the stuff loose. Then I use baking soda and a soft scrubby.
Cheryl: I haven't been able to find DeSolvit for several years. I love that stuff. What is 0000 steel wool? I know about brillo pads, but I don't know about 0000 steel wool. |
