Any way, I was putting the first bag in the car which had thread etc in it... turned around and a young woman was running off with my bag of fabric!!!!!!!!!!!! Stunned!!! shock!! She just disappeared when I looked for my phone to call the police.... no one in site.. anywhere? I usually do my shopping online because I have a bum knee, it is such a nice day here today I decided to get some fresh air and headed into town. I know to be aware of my surroundings but this takes the cake. Be very careful out there, you never know who is watching you.

Sorry that happened to you...I am a firm believer in whats mine is mine..If I choose to give it away thats fine but take it from me and you are likely to get hurt.

p38flygirl 02-25-2011 05:23 PM

so sad..I am glad you weren't injured..

oatw13 02-25-2011 07:28 PM

Thank goodness you were not hurt. But what an awful experience.
That is so horrible. It's a shame some people do things like this.
I would watch Craigslist and ebay and see if it turns up. If so, you can follow up with the police.

BETTY62 02-25-2011 07:30 PM

How terrible. I feel so sorry for you. I hope she gets caught.

Magdalena 02-25-2011 08:43 PM

I am sorry this happened to you. It would be so nice if the fabric store could have replaced it if you had a police report.

Gramof6 02-26-2011 01:42 AM

I am so very sorry that this happened to you! How sad! I am however happy that they did not hurt you or get your purse. Or all of the above & take your car. Carjackings are on the rise in many areas. This shows how cautious we all must be from now on. HUGE HUGS

blossom808 02-26-2011 01:54 AM

Dang that is really messed up. Im sorry that happened but sure glad your ok.

Hosta 02-26-2011 02:13 AM

is there a local newspaper you can call about this maybe they can do a story and some witness would come forword

Glenda m 02-26-2011 05:11 AM

Sorry this happened to you. Glad you weren't hurt. Taken care and hugs to you.

Gabs 02-26-2011 05:18 AM

I am so thankful you are unharmed. Physically that is. God bless you dear lady and remember, "where sin abounds, grace even more so." May the Lord return to you sevenfold what has been stolen from you. <<HUGS>>

Naturalmama 02-26-2011 05:19 AM

*hugs* I'm glad you're ok - but that really is disturbing!

dolores 02-26-2011 06:13 AM

I'm glad you are OK, I hope you got a good look at her and called the police. Or maybe they had servalance camera somewhere. I hope they catch before before she does something worse

chrisqlt 02-26-2011 06:19 AM

I'm sorry too.

mommafank 02-26-2011 06:56 AM

So sorry for you. Is this the wave of the future with cotton prices going up? We will all have to watch our stuff like hawks.

Oh gosh....how scary! Maybe on line shopping is really the best bet. Its getting to where I'm almost afraid to go or do anything after dark and to think this happened to you during the day!

susanwilley 02-26-2011 07:02 AM

OMG!! I can't believe the nerve of some people. It always amazes me what people will do to each other. I'm glad you weren't hurt in the process of her crime!

DJ 02-26-2011 07:07 AM

What a horrible experience to have! There have been many good warnings on this site about safety, and this is one. Although I haven't heard of it happening, I always re-lock my car when I return a shopping cart. We'll probably be hearing about someone grabbing bags out of cars when people return their carts.

winterpromise31 02-26-2011 07:10 AM

So sorry to hear about that. :(

craftymatt2 02-26-2011 07:14 AM

Gee, I hope she wasn't watching you in the store and then followed you out. So sad, I'm glad you are alright and were not hurt. I hope you can find it.

Debra Mc 02-26-2011 09:27 AM

I see so many people leaving their purses open in shopping carts & not paying attention to their surroundings. I never unhook my purse from cart till everything is in. Sorry this happpen. I would have chased her sorry butt down. Please park in front of store next time & be real careful of you surroundings.

Roberta 02-26-2011 09:48 AM

Wow, there are truly some awful people in this world. I hope your material can be retrieved. Maybe an ad in the local paper "no questions asked for the return on bag of material"

From now on I'll make sure of where I am and who's around me. If I can ever get out again that is.

Kappy 02-26-2011 10:55 AM

I'm so glad you didn't get injured. If there has been a couple of incidents, the store clerks should have warned you or posted a warning of some sort. I know when I've bought fabric and am walking to my car I am doing a happy dance and thinking about what I'm going to make, not is someone out to take it from me! Guess I'm gonna pay a little more attention when I go out! I never have them put the receipt in the bag, always goes in my purse!

cctx. 02-26-2011 11:09 AM

Sorry to read your story....scary too.

babyboomerquilter 02-26-2011 11:22 AM

There are some real crazies out there. I am very sorry this happened to you, I guess these days we should all look over our shoulders.I would still call the police and make a report.

Patchworkmarion 02-26-2011 11:26 AM

You poor thing.That is awful.

OH I agree there .. I am so sorry for your loss, maybe next time take a friend. Sad that people have to do that stuff !

butterflies5518 02-26-2011 11:35 AM

Please take care in any parking lot, big or small. I live in a large city and always aware of who is near me. Doors locked at all times. So very greateful you were not injured!

pkary 02-26-2011 11:35 AM

So very sorry this happened to you! Was your grandson able to find anything? I'm glad you were not hurt in the incident and you did right by contacting the police and the store. The store is the only place she can quickly exchange it for cash if she has the receipt, and you warned them to be on the lookout for that material returning. You did good. Sounds like my life, try to do something good for someone and get kicked in the head for your effort!

Maralyn 02-26-2011 12:05 PM

We hear so many stories about shoppers not being aware of their surroundings. Happened to a neighbor as she was unloading a shopping cart - someone walked by and took her purse. Just remember that not everyone is as good a citizen as we are.

tuxedokitty 02-26-2011 12:06 PM

That is just NUTS!!! What is the matter with people? Glad to hear you are ok, though. I order a lot from Connecting Thread - nice fabric and very good prices and equilter.com - they have a wonderful variety!

Gabs 02-26-2011 12:58 PM

Fabric Depot.com has their Batics on sale...Hoffman and several others for 35% off through Monday, also some Moda and RJR. I bought 6 yards of Kauffman off white for $24.00 and had a coupon for 10% off so I got a good deal. The Web code for the 10% is WEB11009...type that in the instruction box when checking out.

Gigi07 02-26-2011 01:18 PM

Thanks every one for the encouragement! I do have the receipt and the fabric hasn't shown up yet.. There was one camera but.. wouldn't you know it isn't working??? I believe she knew exactly what she was getting and the shop owner believes it too. I'm going to check out some online shops... thanks for the info Gabs. Hugs

rexie 02-26-2011 02:32 PM

If you will let me know what kind of fabric you need I may have some to contribute. Would be glad to do it.

DirtyPaw 02-26-2011 03:16 PM

WOW what a low life she was. So sorry that happened to ya.

CarrieAnne 02-26-2011 03:41 PM

Aw, so sorry that happened. Just awful what people do!
Hugs!

Katz13203 02-26-2011 04:38 PM

I hope that they catch her. I am so sorry that this has happened to you.

Arleners 02-26-2011 04:53 PM

Oh Mannnnnnn! That stinks! At least you didn't get hurt. A friend of mine had her purse stolen out of her hands from a moving car and got pulled to the ground trying to hold on.

Did you have a rotary blade in with your purchases? Maybe she will cut her fingers.

Momsmurf 02-26-2011 04:57 PM

I do hope you were able to report it to the police.
I'm sure the chance of recovering it is slim, but maybe the are had cameras that can possibly be helpful.

I am so sorry this happened to you, but I'm glad all you lost was your fabric and that your are alright.
