We bought a Bosch, from Sears, when we built our house. We had trouble from the start and Sears could not get parts at that time so they replaced it. We went with a Kenmore (Whirlpool) for the replacement, stainless steel interior. I like it but it takes so long for a cycle, otherwise it does a good job.

Bosch - there is no heater in it so you can put plastic in and it won't melt. They are REALLY quiet. Love love love mine. Wish I had one a long time ago. Again LOVE my Bosch! We did not get the top of the line and it's fabulous!

Love my Whirlpool. I chose one with basket on the door, too! Remove basket and open to put utensils away.

Go get a consumer's digest and they test all the major brands and give their reviews.

I burnd out the motor in a Bosch in 2 years. We have a tankless hot water tank and the Bosch could not handle it. I have had a Kenmore Elite for 7 years and no problems -- it is real quiet and doesn't use a lot of water.

I have tried to look it up but they want me to subscribe to get the results. I would rather spend money on fabric.

See if your local library gets Consumer Reports magazine. They sometimes won't let you check the issues out but you can read them there. Many libraries have past years' complete Consumer Reports handbooks which have the reviews of all the products they reviewed that year. My problem with CR is they compare a top of the line of one brand with the bottom of the line of another brand. Hard to sort out what's what when they do that. I have a Kitchenaid TOL and I'm very pleased with it. It's quiet and has three racks. Love the very top rack for lids, cutting boards, etc. There are many product lines out there to choose from and they probably all do an excellent job. As someone pointed out, you sometimes get a lemon even with the best product.

My Kitchenaid is 2 years old and very quiet. I am very happy with my choice.
