Yes, the house smells like onions. I usually put the dehydrator in the garage. Idon't like them frozen as the freezer smells like onions. Even when I seal them in glass jars.

When I farmed, I canned/froze/preserved everything, but the most I do now is strawberry jam. Produce and fruit is just too pricey around my area.

Verna,I liked the break and butter pickles. I have had jars break in the canner and thought at first that was what you were going to say. lol it's late and I had a long day. Mary

I haven't had that happen yet, thank goodness! But I have had some duds that haven't sealed.

It looks wonderful, I have never tried canning but I do freeze (berries, peaches, tomatoes and peppers) they just taste so good in the middle of winter.

I picked muscadines last Saturday and made 39 pints of muscadine jam. Loved making salsa, canning poke salad and pickled okra earlier this year. I plan to freeze turnip greens next month.

I can what i can get to grow in my medium sized garden. This year though, I had a horrible time with growing things due to the abundant rain in the spring and then a drought.
