Yes I believe...and have had encounters with them since I was three...just like so many others who have posted. I am not real sure why we are so surprised by spirits of the departed visiting us and communicating with us...after all, who in the world do you think Jesus was talking to up there on that mountain when Moses and Elijah appeared to him??? If it could happen to Him, why do we consider it so strange when it happens to us?? And while I don't think we should go looking to talk with spirits/ghosts, if you are allowed that experience, I would take your example of how to respond from Jesus...not a strange experience at all!! They may, like in His experience, have some very important information to tell you about, considering Moses and Elijah spoke to Him about what He was shortly going to face!

I do. When we got back from our trip to San Antonio, I had my pictures developed and in three of the photos that I had taken of the houses by Heritage Square..at the one house on the balcony.. there are distinct 'foggy' outlines of two figures. This was in broad daylight and as far as we can tell nothing reflecting, because it was a cloudy day.

lyndad 07-01-2011 12:25 PM

No ghosts, but angels yes!

tryitall 07-01-2011 12:39 PM

Yep! I sure do!

tryitall 07-01-2011 12:41 PM

....and the disciples thought Jesus was a spirit when they saw Him walking on the water!

Ghosts--yes MORE spirits---My Dad passed in 1977 at the age of 56, he ALWAYS wore Old Spice.....I was standing in my living room and all of a sudden I smelled the strongest scent of Old Spice coming from another room....entered the room and it lingered--I said "HI" Daddy---thanks for the visit......and then it was gone...

Another--after I had moved into my apartment--I swear I saw a ghost ofmy Dad checking on me---I said Who are you?? You will be okay here--he said......then he was down the steps.....and then disappeared....creepy--but wonderful

I do not believe in ghosts, but I do believe in angels. Edie

Your post made me smile! At times I think I can feel my golden retrievers that are gone now... same thing, a jump on the bed and sensation of them leaving against me.

Yes, I believe in ghosts too. I think I saw one once.

My GM passed suddenly, no time for "hugs and goodby". At the grave, with preachers talking, we heard a whispering sound of wind that started softly and when at the gravesite became louder. It had rained and raindrops were still on the tree branches. With no "other" wind blowing, the tree over her grave shook softly and raindrops fell down on her casket. The smell of the perfume she wore and the Cherry blend tobacco she smoked in her pipe was very strong. It felt like the we were being hugged, and so peaceful and calming. We put our arms out as though we were hugging her. The wind blew the family members hair and clothng, but no one else. We heard the sound go up the hill and stop.
Needless to say several people left before the service was over, even the preacher cut his sermon short. But I know it was her saying goodby!! Loved her so much--Still see her, smell her sometimes.

I do believe this too. I never allow Ouija boards in my house. The "bad stuff" needs to be invited in. Sounds crazy... but I believe it!

This is a really interesting topic! I'm enjoying reading it!

My cat, Cleo, just disappeared one day. I never saw her in the flesh again. About year later my SIL was visiting, reading the paper in my living room, when she called to me, "I thought you said Cleo was gone. She just walked through here." However, when we searched the house, there was no Cleo to be found. Since then I have caught glimpses of her several times.

I encountered angels two different times during a visit to Washington, D.C. and my daughter has encountered angels. Since I was a strong non-believer in angels, the experiences not only changed my mind, but also my life.

I AGREE--Never let children play with OUIJA boards!! Or anyone else in my house.
Most time you {I} can "feel", for lack of a better word, the difference between the two. I also advise my family members NOT TO answer someone calling their name until they see or know who it is!!!

Very often I feel my cat, Gadget on the bed at night. I've had many cats since childhood, but it never happened until my pal, Gadget, passed. I know it's her.

kathome 07-01-2011 02:47 PM

Oh, and yet another story...............

We lived in a house that was over 100 years old. There was a strong scent of perfume that began somewhere on the steps of the third floor, went down the second floor hallway, down the stairs to the first floor, through the living room, dining room, kitchen and then would vanish at some point on the basement stairs. You could actually follow the scent. We could be in the living room watching TV and the dog would perk up, nose in the air. I KNEW what was coming. Sure enough, I would get the scent, and say to DH, "she's here. Coming your way........" DH would say, "No not yet. Oh, here she is. Headed toward the dining room now." This happened many, many times.

Just a wave of perfume that traveled throughout the house. Nothing else. No lights on and off, no doors slamming, nothing like that just the scent of woman's perfume.

Ramona Byrd 07-01-2011 02:50 PM

Two things...one of my sisters volunteers in a CA hospital in ER. She passed a room at the end of the hall with a dying man in it while they were hunting for his relatives, and noticed a man bending over the bed, holding the guy's hand. She was told that the patient's folks would most likely be too late, but this man was much better when they came. Nurses couldn't understand it and flatly refused to believe that anyone could get past them to see this patient..she still wonders who it was holding the dying man's hand and making him stronger. She just saw his back.

A lot of years ago my late DH and I were back packing alone in the high Sierras, as we did often as possible. On one steep hillside, I heard my Grandma's voice (dead many years) telling me "You'd better sit down for a while right here!!!" and I told DH why I wanted to sit for a while. Highly educated and maybe a non-believer, he just put his back pack down and started to sit when he saw right down the trail a huge tree leaning over and suddenly crushing everything in its path. He just looked at me and asked if Grandma said it was okay to go around it. Nothing more from her so we went around it and rejoined the trail down the hill. He never mentioned this again!!

lalaland 07-01-2011 02:57 PM

yes, but I believe more in an essence left behind that an actual life size ghost. The people that lived in our house before us had a much loved cat that passed while they lived there. I can't tell you how many times I felt that cat rub against my legs in the kitchen.

I believe in angels. My mother saw them in her room for several weeks before she died. One night she asked me if I could see the people in the room. She pointed all around the room and said they were there. I asked if she knew them. She said no. I asked if they scared her. She said no. So, I told her they were angels sent by God to watch over her. She said "do you think so?" I said, "well, you see them and I don't, so that must be it". After that, she called them her angels. It gives me comfort, as she waited until we had all left the room to die. But I know she wasn't really alone. :-)

quiltinghere 07-01-2011 03:34 PM

Ghosts as in BOOOOO or people who lived long long long ago that I don't know - absolutely NO

I believe in Angels who I believe are people I know who are around me still after they're gone. :) I have not seen or smelled or felt anything - what I get is guidance - knowledge - forewarning - ya know 'gut reactions'.
I do believe you have to be receptive of them and listen to their suggestions.

klgreene 07-01-2011 03:40 PM

Absolutely, as a child we had two in our old home. And I saw them, it was a husband and wife. In our last home in MN we lived in a very old home. We had a young mother, who walked back and forth in the hallway from bedroom to bed room. We called her Sarah. We found very old newspapers and childrens toys in our attic, and we believe she is still searching for her baby who died. When we moved, I lite a candle and went from room to room, and asked her to please accept the new owners, and that she should cross over because the baby is no longer there. My husband, his son, myself and a friend all saw her. Our friend turned so pale. He said "did you see that?" We just told him that was Sarah and she won't hurt you. He didn't come back very often after that.

I believe ghosts are lost souls still search to cross over. I believe Angels are friends and family who has passed on. And I do believe there is a difference.

I also believe in spirits of the dead. About 10 years ago I met a young Native American boy, and went to visit he and his family. They gave me the name of Snow Owl. While visiting him he took me to several different places in his area. One of the places was Siche Hollow, which is just like a beatiful park. When walking back to the car, I looked at a tree, and there was a white looking owl from sap or something. It startled me, and he didn't see it, but once my pictures were developed, I askef his mom what she saw on the tree. She immediately said a snow owl. Then we went to a burial grounds. I took all kinds of pictures of things, but when I had them developed, there were no pictures of the actual burial grounds. Everything else came out. I believe the spirits did not want me taking pictures, so there was nothing to develop.

What do you think?

Here is a picture of a quilt I included a ghost in. http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-675-1.htm

I had been living in a converted "Home for wayward Girls" and was pinning three sections together in a long hallway. I felt a cool breeze, turned, and there was a nun there, in big clunky shoes. She blessed me, then headed down the hall. I took the pins out of my mouth to thank her, but she just disappeared through the closed door at the end of the hall.

There are many people living and working at the condos there who have seen them, in different part of the buildings.

These posts are amazing and powerful. YES, ABSOLUTELY I do believe in spirits and angels and accept them as they visit with me. I find great comfort in my experiences.

dragonflylady 07-01-2011 04:46 PM

i SEE the snow owl..... =0)

adrianlee 07-01-2011 04:46 PM

Yes, I believe the spirits of our loved ones come visit us. It's hard to explain to someone who doesn't believe and that is OK. There is more that goes on in this universe and the spirit world than we'll ever understand.

I believe in "spirits" because i have seen, felt and smelled them. My daughter and granddaughter have a "spiritual gift" I call it. My great grandson can see a person's aura and he's only going to be 8 next month. There is a little boy spirit that visits me and my husband when ever our great grandson visits. I have to tell you that my granddaughter and her son lived with us until she got married, so he is extremely close to us.

I do also, and also call them "spirits". It's hard to deny it when one has been visited and "touched" by someone close. How else to explain how I knew exactly when my father died?

Either that, or you left the lens cap on! Just kidding! I believe. My church was the family home of George Steele. He was one of the foremost architects in pre-Civil War Alabama and Georgia. The tales of what was seen and heard in that house (mansion) are too long and too many to relate right here, but one happened to my mom when she was pregnant with me. When I was about six or five, someone set fire to the main floor. It gutted one section, but the rest was saved. During cleanup and repair, people from the congregation stored stuff at their homes that used to be at the church. My dad brought home some tools (being my dad!). When he brought them through the front door, our dog's hackles rose and she growled while she followed my dad to the top of the basement stairs. My mom freaked and told him to just take those tools right back out of her house! He told her she was being rediculous and didn't. Well, that's when Jennifer (the dog) started acting very strange. She would walk through the house growling. And the sound of cabinets and doors opening and closing started. Our hall closet is stuffed to the gills with linens and junk and you still to this day have to put one hand on the stuff while you open or shut the door so it doesn't come crashing out. The last straw was when my mom heard that door pop open. She was mad because she knewshe would have to clean up all the stuff. But when she got to the hall, there was Jennifer...growling at the closet. The door was closed. My mom went and got the tools and set them outside and wouldn't let them back in. There was never another problem until I was in highschool....but that is for another time!

I believe. In fact we have had them in our house.

Pamela Artman 07-01-2011 06:09 PM

My daughter lived in an old house where there was a very playful ghost. Her brush would disappear and then days later she would find it on the top shelf in the hall closet. Once my SIL removed his ring and laid it on the sink while he took a shower. When he got out, he could not find it and my daughter and both girls (ages 2 and 4) were in the kitchen at the table the whole time. Some time later, the light bulb burned out above the bathroom vanity and when he removed the globe, there was his ring! The attic light would come on repeatedly and she could hear a rocking chair rocking up there. But the most convincing "visit" was after my DD and SIL had an argument and he stormed out of the house. She laid on the bed and cried until she fell asleep. She woke when she felt him sit next to her on the bed, but she didn't open her eyes. She felt him gently push her hair out of her face and then she opened her eyes... and no one was there! She looked in the driveway, and his car was still gone. spooky!

karate lady 07-01-2011 06:29 PM

yep.. lived with one for over 20 yrs. Was in an old house (almost 100 yrs) and he lived up stairs. We called him "sir" because I really felt it was a man.

bjeriann 07-01-2011 06:37 PM

On a funnier note. My sister came to visit and I had my grandkids for the weekend too. I told them not to bring up any of their experiences with the activity we have in the house will she was there because she gets scared easy. Well she asked at breakfast the next morning if one of the kids came in her room last night and sat on the bed. They both looked at me and said no. She said please don't tell me that I had "a visitor" last night. Well that got the kids going. That night she had both kids sleep with her. It was my sister, 10 yr. GS and 13 yr GD in a full size bed. On the morning we were to take her to the airport she came out of the bathroom scared to death saying something was hissing at her in there. After coming home from the airport I went in the bathroom and I heard the hissing. It was my air freshener going off every 9 min. She was releaved to hear she hadn't had compamy in the bathroom.
