No way! I don't drink diet drinks and hate sugar subs...Our Dr. told us FDA really screwed up when they okayed Aspertem. (likely misspelled)

The extent of the article may be an exaggeration, but I do believe much of what it says. I have a friend who has problems using her hands when she drinks diet drinks or consumes other foods containing Aspartame. Personally, I have a Diet Coke habit that I have to watch! Water is much better, I know, but I don't always follow what is best for me. My goal is to limit how much I drink and I think that solves my personal problem with it. Thanks for sharing your concern. :)

I'm in the "everything in moderation -- including moderation" camp.

Do what works for you and don't worry about the rest. Demonizing aspartame/HFCS/saccharin/whatever seems to be a national obsession. We've got to learn that there's a market for everything -- or it wouldn't be produced and sold anymore.

I am not a diabetic but it runs in my family, I do not count carbs or anything else. I am in my 70's and slightly over weight, other than that fairly healthy, no headaches, no allergies, etc and I drink 3 or 4 diet cokes a day, love them can't stand the ones with sugar lol.

I have no doubt in my mind that consuming large amounts of diet soda are bad for you. However, I still drink 1 dt soda a day. I like having something fizzy and do not care for the sweetness of regular soda. The rest of the day, I drink water with lemon or unsweetened iced tea.

No diet for me, gives me migraines......

I quit drinking soda of any kind over 30 years ago. I took a medication for my asthma that caused stomach ulcers. Once the medication was stopped the ulcers went away. Anyway, I never went back to drinking soda. I just drink water, milk, and wine. :)

I gave up sodas a long time ago and never could stand diet sodas. The diet ones always tasted more metallic to me. I do on occasion miss cream soda and root beer, but can't stand the carbonation.

I have read of similar things happening to people that use these types of drinks and with using it as an additive to tea and coffee.

I know two or three people that get really sick when they ingest aspartame.

I can tolerate it, but I prefer to avoid it when I can.
