i wear these. I don't tuck in my tops and they come down to the top of the jean back pockets so they look like regular jeans and are slimming. I haven't had the problem of baggy knees yet.

If you ever worked in a garment factory you'd know. Fabric is cut by a machine slamming a die(s) down thru many layers of fabric or via a thin wire cutting around a paper or heavy board pattern. The tiniest shift & it throws everything off. They'd squeeze dies/patterns to the very edge, sometimes a little beyond.

If the sewer gets it caught in their machine, it's pulled out, & then trimmed & made to fit. Flat Fell machines were the worst for getting fabrics caught. Sleeves were often different lengths. We had to pull on the fabric to make it fit. And "Brand" didn't matter. We sewed for many of the top stores back then. They had been here for over 150 years when they closed all local factories & moved to Mexico back in the 80's. They still have some weaving done here, but all sewing is off shore.

I always measure the arms & legs of any garment I buy, to make sure they are the same or very close in length.

I love Gloria's jeans & Capri's. They are sold at Beall's in Florida.

I have come across French Dressing Jeans. They make 4 styles for different body types. NO more gaping at the back waist. They do have a little spandex in them; they are wonderful. A bit pricey but I guess no worse than buying some designers name brand. I hate jeans that gape 3 inches in the back.

Size 2! I think I was born that size! Just kidding....

you are probably all going to squish your nose at this,but I usually buy jeans at Walmart....Janz (I think that's the name)or Just My Size.... Some have a bit of spandex others don't. Either way...I like the boot cut and higher waist...I think that low sling waist is what causes more of that muffin top bulge!!!! When I decide I need a new pair, I just grab one of the shelf in my size and I know they will fit....! I prefer the darker blue color and black...altho I do have Gloria Vanderbilt in brown, burgundy and tan. - I think I purchased those at Kohls way back.. I do have to say, my jeans do not fit skin tight...a bit loose, but for me better looking that way....(18)

I like the Jennifer Lopez jeans from Kohl's. I'm 5' 3/12" tall, wear petite plus size jeans. I also like some of the jeans from Avenue.

Geri B, I used to buy my granddaughters jeans at Walmart and added machine embroidery and crystals to them. They looked like expensive jeans. The girls are 2 years apart and they held up from many washings, hand me downs and eventually they ended up as capris or shorts for them. Walmart jeans are good jeans! If they had my size I'd buy them.

I make my own. Been sewing since I was 8 (my Grandmother taught me) & have made a lot of my clothes over the years. I worked in a garment factory for 11 years. I un-sewed a old pair of jeans that fit, made a pattern & I make my own right down to the rivets, just like factory made. I have leather making tools, so my press machine works to set rivets. Years ago I found a place that sold rivets for jeans, the same as the factories used. I bought enough to last me my life time. I also found the same thread, they used in factories, in the same large spools.

As a teenager I could not find size 0 or 1. The smallest the stores carried back then was size 6. So all my jeans had to be altered anyway. Years later I was able to find size 3. Even today I have trouble finding my size in local stores.

One thing I no longer do is flat felled seams. I sew the leg seams, right sides together as normal, overlock the seams & then fold the seam to one side & do a double row top stitch. Sometimes I do embroidery on the pockets before setting them or on one leg. I can still find traditional, non-stretch, jeans fabics at Jo-Anns.

Don't be afraid of the zipper. Use the drawing on the zipper package to trace the stitch lines. It'll make it easier for you. Use a jeans needle & go slow when stitching the belt loops on.

Wow! I respect you for your talent! This is how lazy I am: I go to a nice resale shop near my house, take about 12-15 pairs into a dressing room and go home with 1 or maybe 2 ! If it's jeans and I like the fit, they can be made Capri length with not much effort.

I sure don't have anything against Walmart jeans, but I can't find anything that feels and looks good there anymore. I do know to go up a size when I am dealing with stretch jeans, but still no luck the last few years. My local Walmart is small, so that may be part of the problem.
