Yes, (sigh) I am truly a fabricholic of the worst kind.

Maybe you should wait til after the service, if you go before you might not make it. Reason is a quilter doesn't know how to make a quick stop at a fabric shop.

sueisallaboutquilts 05-08-2010 05:33 AM

This thread is hilarious!!
And yes, I have the disease :D

Olivia's Grammy 05-08-2010 05:58 AM

I am a fabricolic and so is my DH. He told me about some fabric on Craigslist that didn't have a phone #. He told me he would have gotten for me but didn't know how to post back to them. Not that's an enabler

roseOfsharon 05-08-2010 11:49 AM

So far I am controlling my urge to buy, buy, buy. I had to accumulate the accesories just to start quilting. I have about all I really need of that now. I buy material for a project and maybe a couple small pieces I like. But I am just worried of getting too much material at the moment. It would overwhelm me and I would need to start too many projects and I wish only two to three at a time going! lol that is my dilemma
!

rehrensberger 05-08-2010 11:57 AM

hi! my name rose anne, and I am fabricholic. 8-)

Honey 05-08-2010 12:18 PM

As long as we are in a confessional mood, have any of you spent money on fabric that you absolutly should not have, like bill money? I have, but even fabric isn't worth the feeling I had after. I felt so guilty. My name is Honey and I am a fabrihaulic!!

bearisgray 05-08-2010 12:22 PM

yes

Sorry, but I think this is incurable and all you can do is try to moderate it. However I don't think that is even possible, lol!

amandasgramma 05-09-2010 08:53 AM

Ok -- I'm going to have to come to a meeting. I just sorted all the fabrics in my sewing room. I had NO idea how much I really have!!!!!! WOW!!!! Going to be a LOT of scrappy quilts in my future! Meanwhile, I need some R&R, so I'm headed to the LQS!!!

LOL! no matter how many projects I already have started, no matter how many future bundles I have going...there is always
something that just has to have a new home...I can't leave all those poor orphaned fabrics there, so I almost always, adopt some if I go looking.
I did go in Joann's once and looked for thirty minutes and walked out without buying a thing. I checked my vitals as soon as I got home, though. Everybody slips once in a while.
Man, that was one to tell the great grandchildren...by DH!
Once, many, many shopping trips and purchases ago....

Melody 05-09-2010 03:48 PM

Well, I did stop at Shipshewana, Indiana yesterday, and I did NOT buy any fabrics! I am proud of myself! Although, I did purchase a Roxanne thimble for HALF price!! They only had a few left. So does that count?? It wasn't fabric. Honest, no fabrics left the store with me!

Mousie 05-09-2010 03:51 PM

WOW...I am so proud of you.
Ok, so how many quilting books did you buy? :-D

Melody 05-09-2010 03:54 PM

None. Honest! I looked around at the rows of beautiful fabrics and said, "I don't think I need anything." And of course, I don't. But I also didn't WANT any fabrics. Maybe I'm sick??

sandpat 05-09-2010 03:59 PM

You probably should have swung by the ER on the way home...it could be serious!

Melody 05-09-2010 04:07 PM

quote=sandpat]You probably should have swung by the ER on the way home...it could be serious![/quote]

I should have thought of that... you're right.

 Well, I will just open up a stash drawer and look through some the fabrics I have "touched" in a long time. That should be equivalent to taking 2 aspirins and call in the morning.

Melody 05-09-2010 04:08 PM

my typing is terrible tonight! geez. Last post did nt read correctly... oh, well. I'll just go to the stash drawer right now!

SuziC 05-09-2010 04:52 PM

OH YES.....That's me My motto is "i will use this one day"
and the price is great!

bearisgray 05-09-2010 07:30 PM

It's always easier to resist the $9-$10 dollar fabrics.

Mark them down to half price - the resistance goes down with the price.

You know it!!!!

merridancer 05-10-2010 04:43 PM

A fabriholic? I don't have a sewing room, I have a sewing house, so I can't be a fabriholic. P.S. Does having fabric in the kitchen cabinets mean anything?

bearisgray 05-10-2010 04:50 PM

and the bathroom, and the laundry room, and the garage, and the gardening shed, and . . . . .

Evangeline 05-10-2010 05:10 PM

My name is Vangy, I'm a fabricoholic. I used to be content with fat quarters but my addiction has progressed with time & I moved up to 1/2 yards for awhile but now that doesn't even seem to satisfy me and I've been buying whole yards.
Also, I find myself bartering with my husband at Walmart... he can buy an extra box of hunting ammo if I can buy a few yards to get me through the week.
I don't even sew that much. Yet. But I'm going to. I promise.

Crafty1 05-12-2010 09:26 AM

I need to go to a meeting now as I confess, I'm a fabricholic oops: I

twistedsheets 05-21-2010 01:16 AM

Lately when I go to walmart I check the fabric dept to just look. Then I spot something I like for $2.50 or less a yard. My intention is just to get a yard or so. But by the time I get to the table I usually have 4 or 5 bolts in my arms and when the lady asks how much I want, my mouth replies how many yards is there? She measures and tells me and again asks how much, and my mouth replies I'll take it all!! It's hard to resist when ONE"S MOUTH refuses to co-operate! THAT'S MY STORY AND I'M STICKING TO IT!!

kygirl 05-21-2010 02:35 AM

Hi, my name is Linda and I'm a fabriholic. And proud of it.

CarrieAnne 05-21-2010 03:55 AM

Olivia's Grammy 05-21-2010 04:26 AM

I don't have to sneak my fabric in either. DH even buys it for me at yard sales along with anything sewing related. He's a great enabler.

Think I'll keep DH, had him for 40 years. Just about gotten used to him. Hate to break in a new one at this age. The fabric trade is tempting.
