I logged on to FaceBook after being convinced by my Granddaughter...and it still confuses me. But what surprised me was about the 3rd time I logged on, I discovered about 200 people who wanted to be my "Friend" and showed their names and in a lot of cases, their pictures. And I only knew a handfull of them. Some of them were from other addresses I have, and even though I write to them now and then, I've NEVER seen a picture of them before that. Couple of them I've asked them about it and it surprised the heck out of them, knowing that their picture was on an international group. They had sent their pictures to another group of people that have no contact with FaceBook.
There doesn't seem to be much privacy around any more, nor do most younger people seem to even know what the word means. |
Wonder how long it will be until FB starts listing everyone's home phone numbers, too?

No phone numbers on my Facebook page. It's all in the privacy settings you select. You have to check every box in the privacy sections to what you allow and don't allow.
|
If you put it in your profile it is there. But, if you did not it is not there. Everyone that does not want to share their phone number should get it out of their profile.
|
When you set up your account you don't allow what you don't want published. Also, don't play the silly games that require that the host has access to all of your friends' details and numbers as they are not yours to give. Then you should have little problem and exposure.

It seems strange to me that there are phone numbers there of folks I know but have never called, nor did I know their phone numbers. Maybe I just don't understand.,
|
Just Google WHITE PAGES and you can get any unlisted phone number in the country.

Mine were only mobile and they can disarm it if they choose.
|
OMG I am now in the process of removing all of mine from FB. I have my grand-children on my phone and I sure as heck don't want some stranger calling them
|
You are so right. I just checked it out and they are there. Now how do I report this. I knew I didn't like facebook. I have had nude people send me messages
asking to be their friend. Disgusting stuff. Mary |
So this is where the scammers are getting their information!
In my local paper this week...'Grandma, I am in jail in Spain and I need money'. And the woman sent thousands of dollars! And you do not know if the photo is really that person. Anything can be posted these days. Carefully going to change my information. |
I don't get on facebook.
|
Precisely why I do not participate in nor join Facebook!
|
You can use privacy so ONLY you see the contact numbers.
|
I agree............

Okay, the way that I am understanding this...........If I used my cell phone to do Facebook, this is what happens. Well I don't, but I looked at my contacts, and the ones that do use their phone to use facebook, their numbers are their. So I have decided, if these people want their phone numbers out there, good for them, it won't be happening with my phone "ever". Next question thou, "how do you remove their numbers from your contact list?"

The phone numbers that show up are only the people who have put it in their contact information. Not a wise idea, but just because you have a mobile doesn't mean your number is in there unless you put it in. Some of my friends have their addresses in there as well. A couple have their numbers because of their business. So if you don't want your email, phone, address in Facebook, then easy enough. Don't put it in in the first place. Simple as that.
|
Sorry double post.
|
I may still be there, but
I DUMPED THEM ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO. I hate Facebook - Twitter - etc. J J |

I do not facebook at all.
|
I refused to put my cell or home phone on facebook when they requested both to update my account in case of emergency..really! If I need help from facebook for account, I will send them a smoke signal from the highest mountain I can find in Arkansas..lol

not sure if this is what your asking but you can't remove their numbers from your facebook unless you unfriend or block them. If it is showing up cause it's on their profile, they are the only ones that can change it. If I'm wrong, i'm sure someone will come along and explain better |
I went there & I dont have half of these friends on my phone ,but there # is posted because they put there # on there profile. It has nothing to do with your cell phone....

This is true, but I am the only one who can see the numbers. I'm not too concerned as others cannot view them.
|
I never use Facebook. I am thinking of disabling it. I didn't load the Facebook app on my cell phone. HOW did it get there?
This really upsets me. |
I checked my FB, Figure out the ones that show up "are" the ones that have their's listed on either there FB and/or mobile phone. I don't have either HP# or cell# on my FB. If someone was to want it, I would make the decision if I give it out. So no worries here. My security is set"HIGH", so it would take alot to get into mine. PS. I don't have an updated mobile phone for use with FB or other applications, so that is my second reason not to worry.
|
Too much information for me to use facebook, used it for a short time but, didn't like it.

That's one reason I don't do all the social media. You guys are as "social" as I get!
