Well no loss for January for me. Hopefully this month will be better.

Jim's Gem 02-01-2016 11:19 AM

I am in for February!

pinkflowers 02-01-2016 02:18 PM

I'm in for another month. Good luck everyone!

meanmom 02-01-2016 04:46 PM

I am down 5 pounds for January. Not as good as it should have been but down is always good. It would help if I would quit making homemade bread. I went to spinning class tonight, I almost talked myself out of going. Tough class tonight. We did an 8 minute hill, and a 4 minute speed burst. I rode 17 miles in 50 minutes. I do feel so much better since it went. I might try a water aerobics class tomorrow. I have gone before but it has been years.
My DH finished the homemade bread. I had one slice today. I don't even want to think about how much I had yesterday.I made cinnamon raisin bread. DH ate 1/2 of a loaf while I was gone. Less for me, good.

Leann 02-02-2016 05:24 AM

Hello Ladies, count me in! meanmom has my skinnie!

Congrats on a 5# loss Pat! I was down 5# mid-month, but only ended up with a 3# loss. Nothing what I had hoped for.

meanmom, I will keep your family in my prayers. What a hard situation.

About your kindergartner - sad that this childs mother does not see the gift of knowing of a serious problem at such a young age. Several in my circle did not learn of bipolar or depression until their teen years. At least there is time to get a good treatment plan, but with the mom in denial, she is condemning that child in ways she can't see yet. Obviously, the mom has treatment needs of her own.

Jcarpentier 02-02-2016 10:00 AM

Hello everyone. I'm hoping you all are ready for a month of weight loss! I sure am! Have a great day!

Pam H 02-03-2016 03:40 PM

I am in for February. Last month I lost 2.2. Tomorrow I go for blood work to see if my diet has improved my numbers.

Susanna10 02-04-2016 08:50 AM

Have you announced the winner yet? Why do we have 2 February post going???

meanmom 02-04-2016 04:59 PM

The other February post is last year. I noticed I wasn't putting the year on it, also former host didn't put the year on either. Makes them hard to find.
The winner for January is Jcarpentier with a loss of 7.5 pounds. Great job. There were some good losses again this month. Everyone keep up the good work.

meanmom 02-04-2016 05:11 PM

I am trying for a big loss for February. I started going to a water bootcamp class this week. It is a good group of ladies and a fun class. It is a much better workout than some of the water aerobics classes I have taken in the past. It does cut into my quilting time some.
I need to come up with some new snacks for after work and before classes. I can't eat dinner or I would probably puke. But need something or I run out of gas. Today I diced an apple and put some almond butter and cinnamon on it. It was really good. I would need something a little bit more before spinning class. I get bored with food easily.
I am trying to finish all of my UFO's this year. I am trying to do the same as last year and finish 2 UFO's before I let myself start something new. I just finished 3 UFO's so I am trying to decide what to do next. SO many projects in my head and so little time!

Pam H 02-04-2016 06:47 PM

That was a good choice for a snack, Pat. A couple of my favorite snacks are peppers with hummus and triscuits or wheat thins with a light laughing cow cheese wedge.
For anyone wanting to cut back on sugar, here is an article I just found. I can't believe there are 56 different names for sugar! No wonder it is so hard to stay away from.

Congrats Jcarpenter. That is a great loss!

Leann 02-05-2016 06:24 AM

Great job Jcarpentier! I pray your success continues!

Maggiemay 02-05-2016 07:23 AM

I'd love to join in & if I'm too late for the prize, then for the chit chat. I read the thread from time to time for tips & motivation! I saw an article recently that said one of the best tools for weight loss is support & I am in need of some! I lost 2 lbs in January- nothing spectacular, but a small move in the right direction.

mjmachin 02-05-2016 10:43 AM

Yikes, I could not find the thread, but here I am at last!! I joined WW in January and lost 5 lbs the first week, .5 the second week. Now it is February and I will weigh in again tomorrow. I have a hard time sticking with something so this is the 3rd time I am at WW. It worked before, but I always quit too soon and stopped. Need this loss to help with blood pressure. Also, I sure would like to shop for clothes and actually have something I like fit me! Have not quilted since Christmas. I am knitting hats and scarfs for my grandchildren who live in MN.....snow, cold, burr!! I have one left to do and then back to my quilting. I have sure missed it. So, luck to everyone here. This will be a good month for us all!!

Jcarpentier 02-06-2016 05:50 AM

Thanks! I think what really helped is drinking lots of water and stopping eating when I was full. Also, I tried to know when I was really hungry versus just bored, etc. That cold that hit me at the end of the month probably helped too, but I wouldn't recommend it. Thanks for all the congrats! Have a wonderful day everyone!

meanmom 02-07-2016 06:41 AM

I babysat the grandkids last weekend. The next day both of them had wicked colds. They have given it to me, thanks guys. I don't have it that bad, just enough to make me stuffy and lazy. I dragged thru spinning class, luckily it was a sub teacher. The other one would have pushed me. I only rode 18 miles yesterday, on Saturdays I usually do 22 or 23. Then I went to do the machines and dragged thru them. I had a hard time finishing. I went to an outlet mall and finally came home to take a nap. I feel better today, but still stuffy.
We are going to a Super Bowl party today. Hope I can behave myself. It is a poker tournament followed by watching the game. Hopefully I can win some money today!

Annaquilts 02-07-2016 07:42 PM

Arghhh up, up and up! Hopefully by the end of the month it is down again or some loss.

Jcarpentier 02-09-2016 03:17 AM

Hello. My daughter has a 2-hour delay for the start of school today. Not sure we will send her in if we can't get out of the driveway. We'll see. Hope everyone has a great day!

mjmachin 02-09-2016 08:07 AM

Happy Tuesday!! I hope everyone had a great weekend and made it through the Super Bowl without eating the kitchen bowl !! We had crab cakes for a treat dinner so I guess I probably ate a little more than needed. But I am back at it for the week.

Maggiemay 02-09-2016 02:44 PM

I wish I could stay on track on the weekends like I do during the week. We had a funeral this weekend- service on Saturday & burial at the National Cemetery on Monday. Both of those things involved food- comfort food. Then there was the Super Bowl gathering we went to. I brought Cobb salad dip & an Asian Chicken salad. Neither is as healthy as they may sound!! I did talk myself out of some chips today & went with air popped popcorn so that was a small win.

Pam H 02-09-2016 04:52 PM

I got the lab results today from my blood work. The bad cholesterol was lower and the good cholesterol was higher. The one I am most happy about is my triglycerides went from 288 down to 143. My doctor was very happy. The bad news is she said keep doing what you are doing. I was hoping to relax a bit on the diet. Oh well. I think I will anyway. I had a cupcake at my quilting group today. Yummy!
Crab cakes sounds so good mj.
I went to a quilt store that is clearing out all their fabric and only keeping yarn. All their fabric is $3.50 a yard. I think I bought 52 yards. Now that was fun!

JuneBillie 02-10-2016 04:44 PM

Annaquilts your box is full. :)

meanmom 02-10-2016 04:52 PM

Wow Pam what a good deal at the LQS. I am trying not to buy fabric but would have walked out of there with some too.I had a snow day off school yesterday. The kids were extra wound up today. I guess I don't understand how things work but I am working with a different student lately. He is nuts, can't even sit in a seat. He is in second grade he just wanders around the classroom and pretty much does what he wants. He upsets the whole room. They can't put him on an IEP because he is absent too much. Not sure why. My autistic kid is trying a different placement for now. Not sure how long mom will go for it. He screams just as much there as he did in the old classroom. There are so many troubled kids these days.
I went to spinning tonight and rode 18 miles in 50 minutes. I feel so much better when I go. Tomorrow is deep water boot camp class.

Leann 02-10-2016 10:33 PM

Pam, congrats on the great results - your triglycerides are awesome! What an exciting purchase you made.

meanmom, my trick to not buying fabric like Pam found is simply to stay out of the store!

I think I am back on track. I started out keeping track of calories in vs calories out, but I got thrown off by my colonoscopy last month. Only took me two weeks to get back on the wagon, but I did get on.

Jcarpentier 02-11-2016 03:38 AM

Hey everyone. I'm wondering if any of you have any suggestions for exercise? I need to find something I like and will stick with. Thanks so much!

Maggiemay 02-11-2016 06:32 AM

Wow great job on the cholesterol #'s Pam. Nice fabric score too!

I walked on the treadmill yesterday & shoveled a bunch of snow, so that was good exercise. Looks like more of the same today, minus some of the shoveling. My husband did the driveway with the snow blower last night & my favorite brother in law must have been over earlier this morning with his snow plow because we're all cleared out. I'll still go out & do the front walk. It's still coming down though. I went to the fabric store earlier in the week to get some background fabric for 2 different quilts, but didn't see anything I really liked. So here I am with a snowy day & nothing to work on. I'm sure I can find something to do up there.

Jcarpentier, the only exercise I do with any consistency is walking. This time of year on the treadmill watching tv!

Pam H 02-11-2016 08:49 AM

Thanks for all the great comments everyone. I've let myself have a few splurge days. After waking up with a migraine the last two mornings I know it is time to get back to my healthy eating.
In the summertime I walk for my exercise. In the winter I do work out videos. I have a walking workout, Zumba, and one with salsa dancing. I just do whichever one I am in the mood for that day. I also have one for Pilates and one for yoga. I need to get those into my mix.

meanmom 02-11-2016 05:27 PM

I find i do better exercising hen I take classes. I workout harder and longer than I would on my own. Currently I am doing 3 days of spinning and 2 days of water bootcamp. There are a couple of other classes that sound interesting but they don't fit into the time frame that I want. I will eventually switch to something else. I have an elliptical machine here at the house, but I get bored using it. I do use it occasionally. I do have a tv to watch while I use it.
I am off Friday and Monday this week:-) The only thing wrong with being off is I have access to too much food when I am home. My DH is suggesting pizza for tomorrow. Not a good idea.

Jcarpentier 02-13-2016 04:04 AM

Hey everyone. I thought it ironic I went to see my doctor yesterday and he did not weigh me. He usually weighs me every visit. I didn't want to sound like a weirdo and ask to be weighed so I didn't. I think he would have been pleased with the results. I have gained a pound but will work on losing for the rest of the month. You are all an inspiration!

Annaquilts 02-15-2016 09:38 PM

I finally made it to 24 Hour Fitness. My son has been trying to get me to go with him for the longest time. He was so happy and tried to show me how to use the equipment. I also used the stair step machine and checked out the dry sauna. I got a 5 day free pass to try it out. This particular place is a bit far from us so I might check some other places closer by. I did not get a super work out or anything but I don't think my body could have handled that anyways. We plan to go a couple more times this week just for me to try it out in the trial period. I am not planning to take classes at this time.

Leann 02-16-2016 04:39 AM

Hello 'losers',

Hard to see the month is half gone. Sounds like some of you are staying consistent. That always pays off for me.

I'm at my son's in Austin. My heart goes out to other families trying to get some order and normalcy back into their lives. Mostly, I hurt for my son and his battles. This is one thing I can't fix, and treatment is too slow.

Best wishes. Sounds like there weren't any Valentines disasters.

Oh, but that doesn't count as a 'disaster'. :)

Thanks! I guess it didn't as my weight seemed OK and I went to the gym again tonight. I went on the stair step and thread mill along with some well deserved dry sauna time. I am a happy girl. Now since this is all new to me, how do you all manage showering over there or do you shower at home? do you take everything or just the minimum? I felt there was inadequate space to keep my stuff dry when I showered. My son says he locks everything in his locker and walks like Adam to the shower and back. I am a bit bashful.

meanmom 02-17-2016 04:58 PM

i usually just shower at home. On Saturday I do shower at the gym so I can go shopping. I usually use the handicap shower since it is almost always open. I have never seen anyone who appeared to need the handicap shower use it. I undress in there and only take my shirt etc and undies and dress that for in there. I walk out in my undies to put my pants on so they don't get wet. The shirt etc I hang on the hook.
I had my kids all over on Valentines Day for my DD birthday. My mom and uncle were supposed to come but we got 5 inches of snow on Sunday and when I went to pick them up the traffic was awful so I came home. Dinner was't too bad for me, it was the dessert. I made chocolate mousse and butterscotch pie. I didn't eat too much dessert until Monday. Hopefully I cancelled it out with spinning class.
Snow last Sunday and now it is supposed to be sunny and 60 degrees this Saturday. My sister and I might go for a bike ride at the bike path. Not sure if it will work into my schedule yet. My DH birthday is next week and we are supposed to go out to dinner. Also my Son in Law's dad is in really bad shape so it is hard to plan things as the grandkids might be here.
