musicaljan, 54lbs, that's great. IDK how much you want to loose. But, that is a fabulous start. You can do it.. I have just started my journey and want to loose 75lbs. So far, I have lost 15lbs. I am setting little goals. 10 percent of my goal and then when I reach that, another 10 percent and so on. Just so the chunks feel manageable. Some how, it went on a whole lot easier then it is coming off. But, it is coming off. :)

musicaljan 02-12-2015 06:34 PM

My total to lose is 96. I'm over half way there! I'm really jazzed this time. I also just got into a new size. It was exciting! But none of my family is eating like I am so I prepare meals for them then make my own. I usually do ok but sometimes it's really tempting to eat theirs. But I feel so much better eating healthier. And my blood pressure is normal now and my blood sugar is lower so I've got to keep it up! =D

Judith1005 02-13-2015 04:09 AM

musicaljan, that is awesome! Half way there. Congrats on getting your blood pressure and sugar levels down. I like you am already feeling a lot better just with loosing 15 lbs. But, this time, I too am going to stick with the program and when I reach my goal weight try to find a way to keep off for good. I am so sick of being heavy and feeling weighed down. Of course it wouldn't hurt my feelings to shop for normal size clothes. :D I haven't shopped for fun stuff in a very long time. This year will be the year! :) Congrats on that as well. I bet it was fun to shop for a whole new size. Even if it was just a few new pieces to get you to the next size.

I too end up making 2 meals. It sometimes is a pain in the butt. The men in the family are a tad over 6' tall and never have to worry over what they eat or their weight. My daughter who is married and not living at home is more like me. She is 5'3 and I'm 5' 1. We just can't eat the same as them.

meanmom 02-13-2015 08:18 PM

I received 2 FQ today from Judith. There are so many pretty fabrics. I have been so bad I am afraid I will have to mail them to someone else.
I went out to breakfast today with my DH. We split a meal but it was still a lot of food. Afterwards we went to check on one of his jobs, he is a landscaper. I realized we were near Fabric Shack so we stopped in there. I browsed the fabric and really wanted some. I restrained myself and didn't buy any. I am trying to quit buying just because it is pretty. There was a line of batiks I hadn't seen before. It was kinda dark greyish blue with some multi colored pastels in it. I am still wishing I had bought some. After Fabric Shack we stopped at the Golden Turtle Chocolate Factory. Oh my was that dangerous. It was so good.

CindyA 02-13-2015 10:03 PM

Hi everyone, I didn't do very well this week. I've been trying to fight off a cold and haven't even thought about what I'm eating. Just working, trying to get as much rest as possible, etc.

I had hoped to get to the gym this week, but no way. I have Monday off, so hopefully a 3 day weekend and I'll feel a lot better and get back into the swing of things.

Judith1005 02-14-2015 03:55 AM

CindyA, sorry to hear your under the weather. Make sure to drink lots of water and hydrate. And of course, rest. I sure hope you feel better soon.

Meanmom, thanks for letting me know they arrived. Oh goodness, how did you restrain yourself from buying fabric. I can't go in without at least getting a fat quarter. lol But, I am doing so much better about that now. Since I have a grandson. A lot of my extra money goes to him. I just love spoiling him. I am on the hunt for a "Paw Patrol" puppy. Mommy can't find the one he wants at home, so, I am looking. Granny to the rescue. But, Granny is having no luck finding the one he wants either. But, I still have a few places to check out. And, I am sure they will get more back in stock. And, the "Chocolate Factory"...I don't think I would have been able to go in there and not have ANY. I just love chocolate. In fact, Chocolate and coffee are the only cravings I am having right now. (moan) all that lovely Valentine candy. But, I have been good and steering past that isle at break neck speed. :D I want to be able to run and play with my grandbabies. And not be a pooper and sit on the sidelines. And, we have a new little one coming in June. I can hardly wait. My daughter will be surprised. I have not told her I am loosing weight. I want to surprise her with a paired down me. My journey will not be over, but, I will be well on my way.

meanmom 02-14-2015 07:29 PM

I received 2 FQ today from Coffeegal. Cindy hope you feel better. I bought several pieces of candy from the chocolate factory. They make their own chocolate. OMG was it delicious. I had my family over for dinner tonight. My DIL has been in Japan visiting her family for over a month. I haven't seen my GD in so long. Thing get a little bit crazy with the 3 grandkids and everyone here. I made a turkey. It was so good. It is my daughters birthday tomorrow and my husbands next week. We also had chocolate praline cake and strawberry roll up. I sent the dessert home with them. Back on track tomorrow.

coffeegirl 02-15-2015 01:39 PM

I swear I must have lost weight this weekend. Moved our oldest son to Michigan on the coldest, snowiest, windiest day! Between loading up a van and UHaul truck here, then unloading it to a 2nd floor apt (no elevator) I must have burned a ton of calories!

Mary Christine 02-16-2015 05:12 AM

I'm down 2 lbs. so far this month! Don't know how or why - must be all that shoveling I've been doing. It's -18 here this morning, so no shoveling today. I have no willpower when it comes to food. Fabric either, it seems. My fiancee and I spent the weekend at our favorite place in Massachusetts, which happens to be just down the road from a lovely LQS, and I found some great fabric for my next project, a ribbon weave stack'n'whack by Bethany Reynolds. Stay warm, everyone!

Pete 02-16-2015 08:10 AM

OK, Megan , what was your secret????? I still am not on track. Bought DH his coconut meringue pie for St Val's and I ate half of it! What is a gal to do?

meganc731 02-16-2015 11:51 AM

Well my secret was Atkins, but I just had the WORST week and needed to not worry about my diet!!! :D I've never followed it exactly to a T, but I just keep my carbs low. I usually do yoga but I hurt my shoulder and I've had to take a break. I could feel my muscles vanishing and my weight loss stalled. I can't wait to get back at it!

Today my son turns 16!!!! I could hardly contain myself waiting for him to open his birthday present. He loves computer games but has always played on sluggish hand me down computers. We bought him all the components to build his own awesome computer!! That is part of what contributed to my bad week, lots of driving to collect the parts and then the stores running out of stock before we could get what we needed. Going out to eat tonight, then cupcakes, then tomorrow I'm back at eating better!!!!

CindyA 02-16-2015 01:05 PM

Judith and Pat, I'm feeling much, much better. Thanks!!

I just put a big batch of veges in the oven with some olive oil, salt and pepper. I just walked through the produce and picked up what looked good: green beans, potatoes, turnip, beets, etc. Can't wait until it's done.

meanmom 02-16-2015 03:21 PM

I am off today for presidents day. It has been snowing all day. I just got the text that school is closed tomorrow too. My DH wall hanging is ready to quilt. I have about 100 colors of thread and of course none of them are the right color to quilt it. I ventured out today to Hancocks for thread. The roads were bad but i made it without any issues. Now I can quilt all day tomorrow too. Eating is ok, not good not bad.
My niece wants me to make a quilt for her. I have seen a website posted on here that has tons of childrens fabric. All kinds of fabric listed by category. It seems like there is the word bug in the name. Anyone know?

Judith1005 02-16-2015 03:38 PM

Meanmom, I think it's called bugfabric.com.http://www.bugfabric.com/

Judith1005 02-18-2015 05:50 PM

Good evening all, just checking in.

Coffeegirl, My DH and DS move furniture for a living and right now, are up North freezing while having to move furniture. I would be willing to bet you are right. Between moving furniture and trying to keep your body warm I am sure you probably did burn a lot of calories.

Meanmom, My mom taught me how to make a strawberry roll. They are delicious. And, they are picking the strawberry fields right now. We are getting delicious fresh strawberries. But, I really don't remember how to make it. (Which right now, is a good thing.) Because I probably could eat the whole thing myself. I'm going to try and make it again someday. But, I will have to figure out a way to make it a bit healthier. And, find someone to give all but a slice or two too. Just to get it out of my house. How is your family visit going? Do you still have company.

Megan, How is your shoulder doing? Have you been able to get back to Yoga? Congrats on your son's mile stone birthday. How fun!

CindyA, those roasted veggies sounded so good. I will have to do that soon.

Meanmom, How was your snow day? Did you fit in lots of sewing?

My diet is going well. I am sticking to my plan. And getting in as much walking as I can. The dogs are just loving their individual walks with mommy.

PenniF 02-18-2015 06:51 PM

I just got word this morning that a business friend that i have known for 20+ years died last night of complications from surgery. She was only 50....and one of the best people i've ever had the pleasure to know and work with....even tho our business relationship was a long distance one - she was a kindred spirit.
I know it's cliche.....but life is so short - and we never know what tomorrow brings....

Mary Christine 02-19-2015 05:34 AM

PenniF, so sorry for your loss. It's so hard to lose those we care about and it serves to remind us of our own mortality. Getting older is not all it's cracked up to be - and I'm reminded of that daily with stiff joints, aches and pains...and the difficulty of losing weight. I used to be able to maintain a willowy figure without even trying. Now that figure is more pear-shaped. Oh well!

CindyA 02-19-2015 01:47 PM

PenniF, I am so sorry. It is shocking to lose someone that young and suddenly. I often find it difficult to mourn when you don't have a lot of people around that were also friends (someone to talk to that knew the person). So sad to lose such good person.

Judith, it's surreal to see you mention they are picking strawberries NOW!!! I just got home from work and had three layers on plus my heaviest winter coat. Gloves, hat, scarf. And I'm making hot chocolate right now. It's supposed to be colder tomorrow and I think more wind. Just a few more weeks, though, and we should be through the worst of this.

meanmom 02-20-2015 05:26 AM

PenniF so sorry for your loss. It is so hard, and even harder I think when it is so sudden. Judith it is crazy sounding that they are picking strawberries near you. I have been off all week because of the weather. Monday was presidents day. Tuesday snow, Wednesday more snow and ice. Thursday and Friday extreme cold. It was -17 at my house this morning. I have gotten some much need work done around the house and did manage to get in some extra sewing time. My DH birthday gift is finished. I will attempt to post pictures later. I have a hard time getting them from my iPhone onto the board. I am finally making the new pillows for my living room. Only took 1 1/2 years. One of the 4 is almost finished. I am heading out shortly, I need cording for the pillows. I am heading to the Apple store for a computer tune up.

Pam H 02-20-2015 08:31 AM

Penni, so sorry to hear about your friend. And so young! Such a shame.
Pat, are you on pinterest? I have a board just for pics I want to post on the QB. I can just slide it over from pinterest onto the page on QB. That's the only thing I have found lately that works since I can no longer post here from my ipad.
I have been eating a lot of salads since my DD is here. Too bad I have also been eating sweets. This morning we did a walking dvd. It's a Leslie Sansone one. She's pretty good. I am hoping to take my DGD outside this afternoon. It is supposed to get up to 23 today. HUGE improvement!

meanmom 02-21-2015 05:00 AM

We are getting snow again today. Anywhere for 5 to 10 inches. It all depends on the temperature later today. It might change to rain, sleet , and freezing rain later. We call it pennies from heaven. I get the day off and DH gets paid to plow it. I guess I will have to sew again today. I did finally get the old computer desk emptied and the desktop computer ready to throw away. I can't believe it still even worked. I still need to take the desk apart so the garbage man will take it. It seems like there is always so much to do around here.
Since I have been off all week eating has not been the best. My DH has also been around and he keeps eating bad things them I want them. He brought home pizza on Friday. ONe day he brought home the peanut butter pretzels that I love. He also got me candy for Valentines day. Luckily he ate most of it. I haven't gained but I haven't lost either.

Ok I think I figured out how to get a picture from my iPhone. I emailed it to myself and transferred it from there to iPhoto.

Judith1005 02-21-2015 05:35 AM

That's cute meanmom. Is that something you've already done or something you plan on doing.

CindyA 02-21-2015 06:51 AM

Oh, that's beautiful Pat!!

We are getting more snow, too. It's supposed to turn to freezing rain/sleet later on tonight and be hazardous road conditions. I'm PRAYING that I do not lose power. We lose it so frequently that we've bought a generator. But I'm so worried about the pipes freezing.

I'm thinking of joining WW on-line. (I won't leave this board!) My co-worker is doing it and it's amazing how she can calculate points quickly with just her phone. She can hold her phone up to the bar code and get the points instantly. She can calculate points per serving for her favorite recipes, etc. She is 30 and dragging me further into the techy world. :)

DH is going grocery shopping for me while I stay home and work. I brought work home and I'm also on a de-cluttering missions. I haven't stopped to quilt yet. :( Maybe I should set a few little goals for myself for today and tomorrow and then make time to quilt. It's good for my soul.

Stay safe everyone, it is so cold and potentially dangerous out there.

Judith1005 02-21-2015 06:56 AM

CindyA, the weight watchers thing online, I've heard good things about it. You just have to actively be in control. To be honest, it might make eating better fun. :) I hope you join her.Hope you don't loose power. Seams winter is just holding on. Hope you get lots done today.

I wanted the purple too.

Pete, I have a really really hard time getting on track if I deviate from my eating plan. I binge eat and then say whats the point. I have found it is just better to steer clear of the no no's. But, if you do deviate, don't give up. We are all here to support you and help you get back on track. How is your eating plan going this week? I read somewhere that it takes 90 days to break a habit. So, I'm hoping that the longer I go without breaking my eating plan I will be able to break the sugary bad habits I have. I just love sweets. Oh, and carbs. lol :) I also found, that as long as I don't have them in my system, I don't crave them. And am able to handle a craving when it comes up. So far, fresh fruit has been my only intake that is sweet. Amazing how good they taste when it is not competing against processed sugar.

PenniF 02-21-2015 07:52 AM

Hi Everyone. Thanks for your kind words - I went to Arbor Day Foundation and had 50 trees planted in her honor. My DH and I are in the wood business - and she was our Customs Broker/friend all these years - so the trees seemed an appropriate memorial. Waiting for the certificate so i can send it to her family.

Got my cast off this week - so am able to do a little more. Have a splint on and not supposed to over-work my thumb - but at least i can sew a little easier. Hopefully i'll get my March place mats done on time !!
Thanks to all y'all up north who are sending the cold weather our way tomorrow. News is calling for sleet and freezing rain....so we will see. Last ice storm we got 3 1/2 inches of ice and were house bound for almost 4 days.
Better go check the pantry and make sure we are stocked up on good stuff just in case.

Raggiemom 02-21-2015 03:51 PM

PenniF, sorry about the death of your friend.

Musicaljan, that's an incredible weight goal. You inspire me. :)

meanmom 02-21-2015 04:30 PM

I am heading outside to shovel snow again. MY DS ran the snowblower over the driveway this morning. At 1:00 my front walk was clean. There are about 5 inches there now. Not sure how much i will be able to shovel but will get it started. My knee has been feeling better the last few days.
The wall hanging is my own design. It is completely finished. I washed it last night and it is upstairs hanging in my sewing room drying. I made it completely from my stash except for the barn. The barn fabric is a wool and alpaca fabric with a gold thread running thru it. I am really happy with how it came out. DH birthday is Monday

Mary Christine 02-22-2015 05:19 PM

Just back from a 3 day quilt retreat. Got lots done, but also ate myself silly. Too much good food. All in my group are wonderful cooks! One more week till weigh-in, so I have to be extra good.
We had about 6 inches of snow over the weekend, and today the temp almost made it to 30! High tomorrow is forecast to be -2 though. I am definitely ready for this winter to be over.

Pete 02-22-2015 05:52 PM

Still off track,. Came from another BD party---Mexican food and ice cream cake. GNO on Fri was more goodies -- we had 3 cakes! And I so wanted the purple fat quarters. Meanmom - did you announce for March?

meanmom 02-23-2015 05:01 PM

My DH came home crabby and annoyed me. I also was trying to pay his monthly business state sales tax. I couldn't get the numbers to work out. The aggravation made me eat 4 pieces of chocolate. I wish I could quit doing this.
The FQ theme for March is orange.Pete I already have your FQ for March.
Pat

Jim's Gem 02-23-2015 05:32 PM

We finally got some rain yesterday. It has been a warm winter. Today is huge clouds with bright blue between.
I am working on making 2 huge pots of soup. One is a Broccoli, Zucchini, Cauliflower soup and the other is home made Chicken noodle. We are having our small group over for "Soup night" tomorrow. I need to feed from 12 to 17 people. I hope the Veggi one turns out good. I will let you all know.

Wednesday I am driving down to see my newest grand and her brothers. My oldest daughter and her two are suppose to drive with me but at the moment they have colds. We are also going to visit my mother and my MIL and step FIL and introduce them to their newest Great grand.
I don't know if I mentioned, but my Step Father in law fell at the gym about 4 weeks ago. He broke his arm, 3 ribs, punctured his lung and broke his back. He is slowly recovering but needs a caregiver. They are about 110 miles south of us with Los Angeles in the middle. Anyway, we will stop over there and let him meet the baby and say hi.

Tonight's dinner is going to be leftover Chicken Tortilla soup and Sausage tortellini soup I served last night.

Hope you all stay warm!!!

Pam H 02-23-2015 10:30 PM

Busy day for me. I cleaned the house all morning and spent the afternoon making food. I hosted my card group tonight. It was a lot of fun. We have been playing 500 together for 31 years. I showed them a couple of my recent quilts; then they wanted to see my sewing room. I ended up pulling out 5 years worth of quilts to show them. Then I showed them all the baby quilts I made for a sale (that didn't sell). I think they will end up buying some. Woohoo!

CindyA 02-24-2015 12:58 AM

Jim's Jim, that's quite a fall! Hope he's going to recuperate well. And to happen while trying to stay healthy (at the gym!!). My Dad goes to his local Y and I've worried about him on the treadmill.

Pam, what is 500? I have a game group and we might be interested. Usually we go out to dinner and/or a movie and then back to someone's house for games. We play Mexican Train, Scrabble, etc. I just discovered a new game: Left, Center, Right. It's played with dice and goes very quickly. No strategy, just luck.

I joined WW on-line. I think it will be good. You can punch in your numbers (calories, fat, etc.) and it calculates the points for the food, OR you can scan the bar code and it calculates it based on that!! I find that pretty cool. I can input things from my computer or my phone which makes it super convenient. I went over my points for the first day (of course!!).

Healthy choices today, everyone. I cannot believe that in a couple of weeks all this messy, cold weather will be behind us.

Pam H 02-24-2015 10:02 AM

500 is a card game. It's easy and fun. We play 4 handed but the rules here show other options.
http://www.bicyclecards.ca/game-rule...php?page_id=32
Bunco is another fun dice game. I will have to look up left, center, right.

meganc731 02-24-2015 01:16 PM

Well a couple of bad weeks and my weight is up :( What a bummer. Last week was mid-winter break for the kids and I couldn't stick with my diet. I'm back at it hot and heavy. So is my husband as he also put on a bit of weight. At least this time I'm not waiting until I'm above and beyond my starting weight to get back at it!! My major downfall this week was girl scout cookies, my daughter just got all her cookies in and I've had way too many. I'm also making her troop cookie costumes which just seems like cruel and unusual punishment to anyone dieting ;)

Penni- so sorry to hear of your friend's passing, the trees sound like a nice tribute.

CindyA- I used weight watchers online about 10 years ago and I loved it, it worked SO well for me, but I've tried it again since then with no results. I'd still recommend it, if it works for you it's really easy to use :D

Judith- Still no improvement on my shoulder, I finally saw the dr and she suggested physical therapy, I just need to make an appointment, but I keep forgetting, oops!!

Thanks for the tips, Pam. I need all the help I can get! That scale just does not want to budge. Maybe it's frozen.
