In case no one has offered the info (haven't read the whole thread), when a moth is not flying it holds it's wings down and flat, a butterdly holds them up and together

It's funny how insects, small amphibians & reptiles,and large pieces of mulch seem to know when a house belongs to cats. They must have a special radar to warn them off!

Wow! How cool. When my kids were much younger, they would gather cocoons of the Monarch butterfly. They lived on milkweed in a pear orchard. It was fun watching them turn from an ugly little worm into a gorgeous butterfly. They were released back into the orchard of course. We moved away years ago and that orchard is now all houses. I have wondered wherever would they go every year. We went to Southern California when they migrate and there were millions of them! Kids today don't know what the are missing!
